Miele’s new cordless Triflex HX2 Power up!
Due to the rise in popularity for cordless vacuums, powerful batteries will also be in high demand during 2023, market experts predict. Following its initial launch of the VL Series of cleaners last year, Tower – the own brand of distributor, RKW – has continued to add to the range. All the cordless VL Series batteries are removable for convenience, and the flagship model, the VL100 Optimum (below), holds a 29.6V Li- ion rechargeable battery, resulting in up to 15Kpa suction performance power – with up to 60 minutes of continuous use from a single charge. “What do consumers want?” asks Dave Matthews, Business Director at Hoover SDA. “A high suction capacity that you can see and feel and a lightweight product that is easy to use,” he retorts. “They want an appliance that is easy to maintain, and above all, they want a high-performing battery.” The HF9 (pictured above) answers to all these points, he says: “It’s an indispensable ally.” Its 350W brushless motor ensures constant power to pick up dust, debris and hair, plus there’s Hoover’s new Anti-Twist technology, which features a special comb behind the brush to remove hair and reduce the number of hairs getting tangled up. The roller can be removed from the floorhead in a few seconds, with no tools required, by opening the window placed right over the brush.
Mr Matthews adds: “The newly-designed floorhead offers edge-to-edge high-speed cleaning for carpets, and low speed for hard floors, which makes it completely versatile and perfect for those hard-to-reach places.”
And for cleaning under low furniture, Bosch’s Unlimited 7 ProAnimal vacuum features a Flex Tube that bends 90 degrees, while the Nozzle Foot Release gives way to several other attachments, including
head, another new Tower feature available in 2023, the technology continually combs through the brush bar ensuring hair and debris doesn’t become entangled, for a deeper clean. “The VL100 is designed to give consumers a versatile, powerful and easy cleaning solution with its Auto Mode function and Dust Detection sensor, to help keep their homes looking their best,” comments Valentino Ricioppo, RKW Brand Director. “You can use it as a normal vacuum cleaner, detach into a handheld variant, or just use the accessories to extend and reach into corners and high-up areas.” Also providing a multi- use, in its own words “veritable allrounder”, is Miele. The new cordless Triflex HX2 – said to be 60 per cent more powerful than its predecessor, the HX1 – features a three-in-one design so it can be configured as a cordless handstick, hand-held or upright vacuum.
And like its competitors, it also features a removable battery so users can double their cleaning potential with the purchase of a second battery. Although,

to convince consumers
to trade up, the flagship Triflex HX2 Pro comes with two batteries as standard, offering up to 120 minutes of continuous power.
As Laurie Billson, Marketing Manager for Floorcare at Miele GB, explains, the HX2’s improved cleaning performance is attributable to its new Digital Efficiency Motor… “This works in combination with our own Vortex Technology and Multi-Floor XXL electrobrush. The rotating beater linked with its intelligent detection determines the level of motor power needed depending on the type of flooring; it does this by automatically increasing the speed of the spinning brush for carpets and reducing the rotational speed on hard floors.” And allergy sufferers will benefit from the HEPA Lifetime Filter, which reliably traps up to 99.99 per cent of fine dust and 99.95 per cent of allergens, viruses and bacteria. The Triflex’s three-stage filtration system ensures hygienic dust disposal; coarse dirt collects in the dust container, whilst finer particles are retained by the fine dust filter.
Dual-purpose
Interior design trends have seen homeowners swapping out traditional carpet for parquet and rugs galore; while stylish hard floors tend to show and gather dust more quickly, rugs are often left neglected meaning dust builds up. So being able to switch seamlessly between different vacuum nozzles for specific surfaces makes cleaning a breeze. AEG’s range of QX vacuum cleaners (right) is well suited to hard floors, and all the attachments sit onboard the machine, giving direct access to the light-weight handheld unit so users can quickly switch from cleaning floors, to counter-tops and reaching up to ceilings. Another major shift in the market is towards dual-purpose machines that can vacuum and mop – similarly making them ideal for homes with both carpets and hard floors.
right now,”
“All-in-one cleaners seem to be extremely popular says David Foulstone, Marketing
Director at Swan Brand. “Users get more features in one machine, and our new Dirtmaster Crossover is a prime example.” >>
