innovative designs like Orbit. Eviosys’ proactive R&D work

means that they can identify and offer solutions to customers’ and consumers’ biggest concerns and preferences, and offer the gold standard of customer support. Oliver Walker, science manager at Eviosys, commented: ”It’s important that we’ve the equipment ready to have the answers for any questions we may get from the customer. For example, we test the liquid from the can to test that the product is fit for purpose and responding properly. “We also test the chemicals of the

can to see how they perform in the testing; we’re then able to provide data to say that the packaging and the metal within the can is correct and is allowed then to go through to manufacturing stage of being made.” The impressive pilot facility

within the new R&D centre highlighted this. This is where Eviosys is able to find new ways on how to make its can ends more sustainable, while working on its new product Ecopeel.

at Eviosys, added: ”In our pilot facility we’ve a three-piece welding line that we’re able to manufacturer pretty much all of can heights and diameters that we’ve in production through the two welders we have. We also have our ends development department, where we look to create more sustainable ends in each one of our cans by using less material. If we do that with millions and millions of ends that equates to less carbon dioxide being used and less material. “Lastly we’ve a heat sealing

machine – this is where we induction heat a can at 220 degrees heat in under a second and this is one of the big technologies we’ve developed. “Ecopeel started off as a very

early concept, using hand toggle presses where we produced 100 cans a week to now thousands per week. The tooling that’s seen in here has allowed us to pat test to a concept and then the subsequent full production.”
