THE MONTH Inflexion agrees buyout of Marley


Inflexion Private Equity has agreed to acquire Marley, a leading UK- based roofing specialist, from Etex, a building materials firm based in Belgium which has owned Marley since 1999.


Founded in 1924, Marley is the UK manufacturer and supplier of roofing system products. The Staffordshire-based business employs 600 people across five manufacturing sites and two distribution centres. Marley benefits from a loyal customer base split between new build, repair, maintenance and improvement.

George Lines adds branch in Aylesbury


Specialist civils merchants George Lines (part of the Lords Builders Merchants Group) has opened a new site in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.


The site is located just off Gatehouse Road near to the Gatehouse Ind. Est. iIt s part of Kings Langley Builders Merchants which Lords acquired in September 2018. It will be the first dual brand site for the group as both George Lines and Lords Builders Merchants will be operating from the same location. Lords Builders Merchants & George Lines managing dirctor Richard Perkins commented “ The opening of a second branch is part of the overall strategy of Lords to grow organically as well as through acquisitions. Aylesbury is


an area that is seeing a substantial level of house building and this branch will be serving the Civils and Ground Work contractors who require a trusted local supplier”


The branch opening follows a substantial re-furbishment of the Lords Park Royal Branch in London and the acquisition of Huntingdon Timber by Hevey Building Supplies part of the Lords Group. BMC Ltd goes to Goole


Independent builders merchant Builders Merchant Company Ltd has opened its third branch in three years in Goole, East York- shire.


The site consists of a 25,000 sq


ft warehouse, external yard and separate showroom facilities, and will be a flagship branch for the company. Due to its size and loca- tion along the M62 corridor, the site will act as a central distribu- tion centre for BMC allowing the company to feed goods through- out Yorkshire and North Lin- colnshire and its other branches in Scunthorpe, Hull and Rotherham. Duncan Thomson, BMC man- aging director, says: ‘The new site will allow us to take the company to the next level, giving us an ef- fective transport model through- out Yorkshire and the North.””


Three new members join IBC


Three merchaants in the south east, PRG Builders Merchants, Maidstone Builders Merchants and Build It Builders Merchants have all joined the independent builders merchant biying group IBC, to make the most of the group’s partnerships with leading building material suppliers. Maidstone Builders Merchants has grown rapidly since its launch in 2016. The company prides itself on delivering exceptional customer service, combined with quality products at excellent prices. Already working closely with a number of IBC suppliers, directors Warren Jarrett and John Wood are looking forward to the additional benefits available to IBC members and to building relationships with all IBC’s supplier partners.


PRG Builders Merchants, which is based in Romford, Essex, is a new builders’ merchant which aims to bring fresh ideas to the industry. Director Dee Sandhu said, “I am looking forward to meeting all the IBC suppliers and finding out what they have to offer as we continue to expand our business.”


Build It Builders Merchants has also joined the buying group. The London-based merchant sells a wide range of products, including boilers, tiles, tools and accessories. It also has a large bathroom showroom on site where customers can browse. IBC Account Manager Ross Travers says “We are delighted that these three independent builders’ merchants have chosen to join our membership. They are all successful and fast-growing businesses in their own right, and the fact that they can see the advantages joining IBC will bring to their business is proof of just how much independent merchants can benefit from the strong partnerships we have in place.
