AND FINALLY Frank Key steps up for Arnold Town FC

Nottingham-based Builders merchant Frank Key is providing vital support to local football team Arnold Town FC to ensure they are ready to run out for the new season.

Howarth to raise thousands of pounds with annual charity trek

The Howarth Timber Group has revealed its aims to raise £5,000 for its charity of the year, Cancer Research UK, from its annual fundraising trek.

The yearly event, which has been going since 2013, will see almost 50 Howarth employees, customers and suppliers tackle a gruelling 20-mile walk around Ullswater; the Lake District’s second largest lake, during 20th – 22nd September 2019. Set to be a poignant year for Howarth, the company renewed Cancer Research UK as it’s charity of the year after the death of Zsu Graves a much-valued colleague from the firm’s accounts team at the New Holland site.

Alistair Howarth, internal sales at Howarth Timber Group, says: “We’re now into our 6th year of undertaking charity challenges but this year will be like no other as we remember and celebrate the life of Zsu who sadly lost her battle with cancer earlier this year, “As a company, we wish to support everyone taking part and maximise the amount raised. That is why our joint chairman Nicholas Howarth has decided that all Howarth Timber Group employees, will have the cost of the weekend paid for by the business.”

Howarth employees will continue to raise funds for Cancer Research UK throughout 2019 with a range of fundraising initiatives such as Sport Shirt Friday, and a darts competition in the pipeline.

A long-standing relationship between the football club and the Daybrook branch of Frank Key stretches back a decade. For the last five years Frank Key has been the main stand sponsor, support that is valued from the club. Steve Holland, Arnold FC chairman, says: “Frank Key has agreed to continue their sponsorship of our stand for

the forthcoming season which is a massive help to us and goes mainly to support our men’s team. Frank Key is a real example of a local company giving back to the community and is very much appreciated.

“This time of year is extremely expensive for clubs like ours as we have to replenish kit (where do those socks go!), medical kit, training balls etc so their generous sponsorship really is crucial to ensure we’re ready to go at the start of the new season.” Richard Meeks, group hire director at Frank Key, says: “We

have supported the team for more than 10 years now, as we believe it is important to give back to our local community. As fans of the sport, it just seemed right to provide the team with that extra support they need to continue doing what they love.”

RGB’s Golf Day raises £3,900 for Ambulance Trust

RGB Building Supplies’ annual golf day, held at Bovey Castle, raised a fantastic £3,908 for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. The tournament was won by a team representing RGB’s Exeter-based kitchen and bathroom showroom The Room Works. The day, organised in association with Exeter City FC, saw 28 teams made up of suppliers, customers and staff take part in the four-ball competition, with The Room Works team taking home the Andy Shinner Memorial Trophy. Following the golf, players enjoyed a sit-down meal and were

entertained by former Scottish rugby player and BBC commentator Ian Robertson. A representative from the Devon Air Ambulance trust also highlighted how the money raised will help the charities.

Kevin Fenlon, CEO at RGB Building Supplies, commented “Our golf events are always extremely well supported and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with Exeter City FC, as well as our customers, suppliers and staff, who helped us raise such a fantastic amount of money for the two charities.”
