The BMF is the leading Industry Trade association that represents and protects the interests of Builders Merchants and Suppliers to the Merchanting Industry. Membership has grown by over 140% over the last 8 years and we now represent 853 Member companies who have sales over £46 billion per annum and employ 233,000 people in the Building Materials Industry.

We are now looking for a Regional Manager to cover the South East to complement our existing team.

This position, reporting in the interim to the Merchant Development Manager and then into a new Commercial Director role, is home based and is responsible for dealing directly with all merchant members in designated Regions. The prime responsibility of the role will involve the setting up and running of Regional Meetings and the selling of training programmes and other business related services to members. Other roles include helping deliver the Project Excellence Member Value strategy, recruiting new members, promotion of and recruitment for membership of merchant staff for the Institute of Builders Merchants (IOBM), dealing with member enquiries, assisting on membership renewals, and managing one of our Product Category Forums.

The role will require travel to Members premises, BMF’s Head Office in Coventry and other major Industry events throughout the UK. The position will initially be 3 to 4 days a week, with the potential of going to 5 days per week.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong background within the building materials industry and previous experience of either working in or selling to builder's merchants. A “can do” attitude is essential, and we are looking for someone who has a positive outlook to life, is self-motivated and pro-active and has a real determination to drive the BMF forward with continued membership growth and engagement.

Salary is negotiable and will be dependent on commercial experience.
