SIG buys SM Roofing Supplies

SIG Roofing, part of SIG plc has acquired SM Roofing Supplies. It will continue to trade under its existing brand but with the full backing of SIG Roofing’s national supply network.

First established in 1993, SM Roofing Supplies employs 11 staff and operates from a site in Pelsall, Walsall. The acquisition fills a gap in SIG Roofing’s coverage in the West Midlands, expanding its service capabilities to roofing contractors across the region.

Mannok extends NBG cement deal for three years

Master Grade cement will continue to be available exclusively through NBG Partners until the end of 2024, thanks to an extended deal agreed by Quinn Building Products as it begins its rebranding programme to Mannok. The exclusivity deal with NBG was first agreed in 2018 when Master Grade cement was first launched to market, and was extended in 2019 to run until the end of next year. In August, SIG Roofing invested in a brand new Delivery Tracking System (DTS), which provides customers with complete visibility of their deliveries from initial order right through to final delivery.

Chandlers drives through new roofing branch

Chandlers Roofing Supplies has opened a new branch in Guildford. The 17,500 sq foot flagship branch in Peasmarsh features a drive thru’ facility and a large yard and warehouse.This latest branch joins the newly opened Leatherhead branch and a further new branch will open in Rye, East Sussex

John Bercow, the former Speaker of the House of Commons has been announced as Keynote Speaker at the BMF All Industry Conference 2021 next June. Forterra shows off in Desford

Forterra welcomed Dr Luke Evans MP for Hinckley and Bosworth to its new Desford development, set to be the largest and most efficient brick facility in Europe when it commences production in 2022. The new development is being built alongside the current factory; when

completed the projected capacity is 180 million bricks per annum – enough to build 24,000 family homes.

MKM buys DTC

Independent builder’s merchant group MKM Building Supplies, has bought DTC Merchants Limited. Established by Donald Young, Roger Thomson and Colin Cameron in 2007, DTC has three branches based in Dumfries and Irvine, Ayrshire. The company is a Partner in the NBG independent buying group.

Young will remain with the business for a period of time to assist with the ownership transition. He said: “Becoming part of MKM’s dynamic growth and being able to continue to serve our customers in the way that we always have is a very exciting prospect.”

David Kilburn, the founder of MKM Building Supplies Limited, said: “The team at DTC is highly skilled, has superb product knowledge and a great reputation in the South West of Scotland and Northern England. We are confident this will be a great asset and look forward to the opportunities ahead.”

Selco scores one in Liverpool

Selco Builders Warehouse is to open its 70th branch, in Bootle, Liverpool, in April 2021.

Howard Luft, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “Liverpool has been a long-term target area and we are delighted that we will be bringing that to reality next year.

“The coronavirus crisis has been an extremely challenging period for the entire country and it’s been no different for us at Selco, but we are determined and excited to keep moving the business forward.”

The branch in Bootle will strengthen Selco’s position in the north west with four branches in Manchester – in Ardwick, Ashton Moss, Salford and Baguley – and one in Warrington.
