TAKING THE HEAT OFF BOILER LEGISLATION


BMJ looks at how Boiler Plus Legislation is influencing the industry.


“Boiler Plus legislation is at the forefront of current trends.” says Jeff House, Head of External Affairs at biler maker Baxi. “Under Boiler Plus, combi boiler installations must include one of the following options: weather compensation, load compensation, flue gas heat recovery or smart control with automation and optimisation functions. Therefore, products like IFOS and GasSaver are central to making compliance easy.


House says that Baxi’s IFOS was “Created with the needs our customers and the industry as a whole in mind, taking the headache out of compliance.


“Another option for staying compliant with Boiler Plus is a flue gas heat recovery system


(FGHRS), which recovers heat from the flue products to pre-heat the domestic hot water supply.


House explains that the majority of Baxi’s products are designed in response to


installers’ needs. “As asked for by installers, we officially launched three new boilers: the Baxi 636 Combi, and 624 and 630 Combi LPG models in October 2018” he says. ”Not only do we now offer a more


powerful output, we also have LPG versions so customers in off-mains gas areas can reap the benefits of the range. Alongside this, our Main Heating brand has launched a new compact range of boilers specifically for independent merchants.


“The Baxi 200 and 400 ranges have


also officially been launched to national merchants – extending the reach beyond independents, so installers across the country can access this successful range.”


House adds that Baxi group area sales managers hold regular trade awareness mornings in merchants’ branches, demonstrating the latest products and


keeping merchants and their customers up to speed on the latest legislation. This training is also offered at Baxi training centres, where the coures can be tailored to the needs of sales or counter staff.
