BROMBOROUGH PAINTS REBRANDS TO REFLECT GROWTH

B

romborough Paints, the largest decorators’ merchant in the North West, is evolving its brand, to reflect its growth and strategic ambitions better, as it opens new branches and invests in its online business.

The new brand, PaintWell, allows the company to bring all its brands together into one marque, creating consistency across the 18-strong branch network. PaintWell retains the famous blue identity and logo, underlining the company’s ongoing commitment to remain a local, independent decorators’ merchant with a huge range, strong stock availability and great service. The PaintWell brand goes live from 22 November.

“We plan to open more branches so we can take our outstanding range and specialist advice to new towns and cities across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands,” said Stuart Slocombe, PaintWell’s managing director. “We are also investing heavily in our online business, bringing together our successful Trade 1st and Bromborough Paints brands into a single new website, which truly reflects our range and stock, with a great user experience.”

“Bromborough Paints and its sister brands will evolve to PaintWell – keeping our heritage blue and our logo but with a name that gives us plenty of scope for growth. No matter where a customer shops with PaintWell, they’ll find the same independent approach and great service that they’ve enjoyed from Bromborough. It’s a new name for the same great company.”

Bromborough Paints benefited from investment from Cairngorm Capital earlier in 2021, enabling it to build on its historic achievements and invest in its branches, people and service. Stuart Slocombe joined the company in June, to head the team that led the management buyout, comprised of John Ferrington, Dan Peacock and Giuseppe Alfonso, and the company has delivered its first new branch in Warrington post-buyout. A PaintWell branch will be opening in York on 29 November, with others in the pipeline for 2022. From 22 November, visitors to Trade 1st and Bromborough Paints’ websites will be delivered to a new website - PaintWell.co.uk - with a huge range of paints, wallcoverings and accessories from all major manufacturers. The new name has been embraced by colleagues who are enjoying new uniforms, a new livery for stores and on vans, and in offers to customers. For trade customers, PaintWell will also offer a comprehensive industrial paints range comprising paint, fire protections, cladding

coverings, floor and roof decorating products to contractors nationwide.

“I’ve been so impressed by our colleagues,” said Slocombe. “They really embody what it means to be a ‘local independent’ with great expertise and great service. The Bromborough Paints brand has been in operation for over 70 years so we have evolved it sensitively to preserve that heritage. I look forward now to taking the same great service to customers as PaintWell.” About Bromborough Paints – Established in 1948, Bromborough is a specialist independent paint distributor, headquartered in the Wirral. Bromborough has 18 branches across the North West of England, from Shrewsbury in the West Midlands to Carlisle on the Scottish border, serving trade and retail customers. Bromborough also has an e-commerce platform, Trade 1st, supplying paint and decorating supplies nationwide. Both brands will evolve to PaintWell from 22 November 2021. BMJ

SAYING YES TO RECYCLABLE PAINT TINS T 36

he UK household has 17 old, part empty paint tins per household. The key reasons for this are: • Customers over-ordering paint • Only 1/3 of recycling centres accept paint and tins for recycling, with only 2% making it through the recycling process YesColours intention is to provide an alternative packaging solution, taking a nod from the beauty and cosmetic industry, that tackles both of these issues along with a number of other clever environmental benefits:

• 1 litre sizes so customers can more

accurately order what paint they need • Packaging that is more widely and easily recyclable than the standard paint tin. YesColours, founded by John Stubbs, and Creative Partner, Emma Bestley in 2020, looks to tackle the UK waste paint issue head-on by introducing radical new packaging that aims to flip the industry on its head by removing the traditional paint tin in favour of a fully recyclable pouch; which are more commonly used for food and cosmetic products. YesColours' paint pouch alone uses 16% less fossil fuel, generates 21% less greenhouse gas emissions and uses 26% less water

throughout its production than traditional rigid packaging - giving consumers the opportunity to help protect the environment before they’ve even started painting.

The pouch can be placed in local store or supermarket recycling points - far better than leaving tins in sheds degrading over time and waiting to be taken to the tip where they’ll be landfilled or incinerated. As UK collection services improve their kerb-side recycling, customers will be able to recycle in their homes as well.

YesColours paints are 0% added VOCs, free from Azo-dyes and harmful surfactants.
