Norbord helps housing development for UK troops

Norbord’s flooring solution, CaberDek, was used during an Army Basing Programme project in Tidworth, Wiltshire. The Army Basing Programme provides housing and improved facilities to Service personnel, helping over 100 Army units to relocate in the UK. One of the Army Basing Programme projects in Salisbury Plain included the Ashdown Estate (previously known as Area 19), Tidworth. This development not only saw Taylor Lane Timber Frames supply and erect timber frame kits for 322 homes, but also made use of Norbord’s innovative CaberDek.

CaberDek, with its protective peelable covering, was the obvious choice to fulfil requirements, allowing work to continue even before the roof was in place by maintaining a waterproof surface during adverse weather conditions.

condition; Useful Vision, which provides positive opportunities, support and accessible events for visually impaired children and their families across the North East; Chin Up Charity, set up to relieve children and young people

EGGER employees raise money every year with a range of fundraising events such as its recent Kielder Observatory evening and Hexham Open Day. Last year, EGGER Hexham provided Northumbria Blood Bikes with a new, fully serviced Yamaha motor bike and two years’ worth of fuel. The suggestion to support this particular charity came from an EGGER employee who is a Northumbria Blood Bike volunteer rider.

Polypipe donates bear necessities

Polypipe helped three rare Asian bears to discover the joy of play and exercise their grey matter, by donating plastic toys and puzzle feeders to the trio of Ussuri brown bears, which arrived at Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP) in August. Polypipe roared into action after discovering the colossal critters were being relocated from their native Japan to the animal sanctuary in Branton, Doncaster.

The company worked with the wildlife park to design a variety of bespoke toys, which

have become a hit with the burly beasts, brothers Kai and Riku, and 27-year-old female Hanako, following their epic 5,400-mile journey from the Far East. Cameron McLellan, managing director at Polypipe Building Products, said: “Yorkshire Wildlife Park is doing such wonderful things for both the animals in their care and the local economy. “As a Doncaster business, we’re

delighted to be able to support the park and look forward to donating more items in the future.” Simon Marsh, animal collections manager at the wildlife park, said: “The bears deserve to enjoy their time at YWP and we are sure the fantastic new toys and constructions will provide them with a lot fun and happiness. “We are so thankful for the generosity and support of the local businesses and friends.”
