VELUX to sponsor BMF Burns Supper
VELUX will be the Headline Sponsor for the 2019 Burns Supper, the BMF’s most popular and prestigious annual event in Scotland.
The 2019 Burns Supper, which takes place on 25 January at the Double Tree Hilton Dunblane Hydro, is an evening of Scottish tradition celebrating the life and works of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.
The event is also one of the major fundraisers for the BMF’s nominated charity, Variety the Children’s charity, and the
merchant industry charity, the Rainy Day Trust.
Dan Banks, Regional Manager, Sales GB for VELUX said, “VELUX is delighted to be Headline Sponsor of the BMF’s Burns Night Supper, as a business steeped in its own Scottish heritage, the significance of this time-honoured
tradition resonates with us strongly. The BMF has an excellent track record of delivering industry leading, quality events and I am sure Burns Night 2019 will continue to raise the bar.” BMF’s John Newcomb said, “We are delighted not only that VELUX will be supporting the BMF’s first major event of 2019, but also that they value the work we are doing for all members, merchants and building material suppliers, and are keen to continue working in partnership with us in the coming months and years.”
JCB to sponsor BMF Golf Day at exclusive new Club
THERE WILL BE a new look to the BMF annual Golf Day in 2019, following the announcement of JCB as the new sponsor for the event.
The 2019 Golf Experience will take place at the stunning new JCB Golf and Country Club on 18 September, the day before the BMF’s annual Members’ Conference and Awards Dinner, which will be held at St George’s Park on 19 September and sponsored for the third year by Encon.
The JCB Golf and Country Club, which opened in September, reflects the bold, ambitious vision of Lord Bamford, Chairman of the iconic construction and agricultural equipment manufacturer: a par 72, tour- ready championship course that stands shoulder to shoulder with the very best courses in the world. Designed by the world-renowned landscape architect Robin Hiseman and set amid the lush green rolling countryside of Staffordshire, the course along with luxury accommodation and dining offers the ultimate in golfing retreats. John Newcomb, BMF CEO said,
Investing in the courts
JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS, the BMF learned the Ministry of Justice has obtained extra funds for improvements to court buildings around England and Wales. £15 million of new money is being allocated to conduct improvements at various sites before the end of the current financial year. Funds will go towards increased security and maintenance work on existing buildings. £4 million will be spent on capital maintenance such as roof replacement (Snaresbrook & Winchester); new boilers (Newton Abbot, Peterlee & Plymouth); new windows (Barnstaple); and replacement lifts (Swansea & Thames Magistrates’ Courts). A further £8 million will go on facilities management with an emphasis on improving heating and cooling in court buildings. At the last Conservative Party Conference, the BMF spoke to the Lord Chancellor, David Gauke MP, about the importance of the BMF and members in delivering for communities. Mr Gauke has met the BMF several times since the 2010 General Election - notably on VAT when he was a Treasury Minister. Ministers like to announce spending on new buildings - but when opportunities arise, we remind them not to forget RMI on public buildings.
“We are absolutely delighted that JCB has agreed to sponsor our annual Golf day and to hold it at their prestigious and exclusive Golf and Country Club. This is a unique opportunity for BMF members to be amongst the first to play at this world-class course, built around the parkland of the ruined Woodseat Hall, adjacent to JCB’s HQ in Rocester.”
