is repair and maintenance. Although this is at the less glamorous end of the spectrum, Stroud said it is still essential work that enables the company to maintain its high health & safety standards.
As well as developing new branches, Filplastic are also involved in updating the existing branch network. Successful branches that have been operational for many years will inevitably outgrow their premises, so Filplastic is commissioned to redesign the layouts and find new space.
One such solution is the installation of a mezzanine floor which can dramatically increase a branch’s storage capacity. Mezzanine flooring has become a speciality of Filplastic, as demand for them has grown exponentially in recent years.
Taylor said: “A lot of customers trying to maximise the space available without going to the expense of moving premises have gone down the mezzanine floor route.

He said: “Racking must pass an annual inspection, so requires regular maintenance which Filplastic quote for. Branches can choose to use a local company if they want, but usually they go with Filplastic because they know the service will be good. “It’s not always the easiest type of work because you’re dealing with damage from a forklift, where large metal beams need extracting and replacing while the operations of the business go on around you. But Paul and his team get most of that work because they’re able to do it with minimum disruption.”
MKM opened its milestone 50th branch in Royal Leamington Spa in 2017 and the
company is on track to hit a target of 100 by 2022. Taylor said he is hoping the relationship between the two companies will continue to flourish.
“We’ve been very fortunate to have worked with MKM for so many years,” he said. “MKM has been a huge factor in the growth of Filplastic. I would like to think Filplastic has been a small factor in the growth of MKM. It’s something we hope we can continue to be.”
Stroud agrees, saying there is a great relationship between the two East Yorkshire companies. “As long as Filplastic can work to MKM’s high standards and keep their pricing competitive there is no reason the relationship cannot continue.
