Jewson is welcoming customers to its new, fully refurbished, Bedford branch site.


The site at Barkers Lane has been upgraded and rebranded in line with the merchant’s Branch of the Future concept. Jewson Bedford now stocks more than 9,000 products, including an extended range of power tools and clothing, a bathroom showroom, paint mixing service, ironmongery, and


an extended timber selection. To celebrate the launch, customers are invited to visit the branch for a week of special offers product demos, exhibitions from key suppliers and giveaways


561 redundancies as administrators


appointed at National Timber Group Joint Administrators of the National Timber Group, Michael Magnay, Gemma Quinn and Jonathan Marston of Alvarez & Marsal have been appointed as of November 26.


The Group has been placed into administration following a difficult trading period and resultant liquidity challenges. This follows the notice of intention to appointment administrators filed by the companies on 14 November.


Travis Perkins PLC and Selco invest in BMDS Data Yard


Building Materials Digital Services Ltd (BMDS), the joint venture between the BMF and NMBS, created to provide Data Yard, an industry-owned data pool, has gained support from two of the largest merchant groups in the industry, with Travis Perkins PLC and Selco Builders Warehouse joining BMDS as external shareholders.


This announcement signifies that BMDS has achieved 70% of its investment target. Paul Beaman, group commercial director for merchanting at Travis Perkins,

There have been 561 immediate redundancies across sites and central functions, while 13 of the Group’s branches have been closed with immediate effect. The remaining sites continue to operate, although some of the Company’s production facilities have been mothballed.


Administrators have launched a sale process for the business and assets of National Timber Group and encourage any interested parties to contact them.

Marley visits Nottingham Trent University

Travis Perkins relocates in Wellingborough


After nearly 40 years in the same place, the Wellingborough branch of builders merchant Travis Perkins has a new home.


The redeveloped and relocated branch on the Ise Valley Industrial Estate on Meadow Close opened November 10.


The warehouse space is almost 50% bigger, and the branch features a wide range of products including timber and sheet materials, bricks and blocks, joinery, tools, landscaping materials, plus the tool hire service, and click and collect. Wellingborough branch manager, Jamie Drummond, said: “We are thrilled to have moved into the new branch which will ensure we are continuing to lead the way for building supplies in our local area. All of our team have moved over to the new branch”


The new branch is open from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and from 8am to noon Saturdays.
