JANUARY IBMG acquires Dougfield Plumbers Supplies
The Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG) announced that it has acquired Dougfield Plumbers Supplies Limited (Dougfield), expanding its network of specialist plumbing and heating merchants into Wales and across the South West.
Covers celebrates 175th anniversary
Covers Timber & Builders Merchants celebrated its 175th year of trading in 2022. As part of its 175th anniversary year, Covers hosted a range of special events, competitions and discounts, including supplier demo days, exclusive offers and the chance to win some top prizes. In keeping with the spirit of its mission to serve and support communities, Covers made a variety of donations throughout the year to local charities and community projects in honour of its anniversary.
FEBRUARY Lords looks to add Buildbase Sudbury branch to Hevey Building Supplies
Builders merchant group Lords Group Trading signed an exclusivity agreement for the potential acquisition of a Buildbase branch in Sudbury, Suffolk, which it planned to bring into its Hevey Building Supplies Limited subsidiary. Under the agreement, Hevey was provided with exclusivity until 31 March 2022 in relation to its potential acquisition of the Sudbury branch, which generated revenues of £5.1 million in the year to 31 December 2021.

The new branch has installed an energy efficiency display, offering information and support on the latest Government legislation of how heating systems are changing to meet the UK’s commitment to net zero by 2050. The offer includes a wide range of energy efficient solutions including air source and ground source heat pumps, underfloor heating, solar thermal and solar photovoltaic panels, biomass boilers, wastewater heat recovery systems and more.
