LATCH ON TO THE NEW

SECURITY TRENDS

Smart home security is here to stay, as BMJ finds out.

I

t’s fair to say the future of home security sits with ‘smart’. Whilst traditional security solutions still offer superior protection to homes, the benefits of smart security products that offer control via a smartphone are often more appealing to the modern-day homeowner.

Matt Claydon, head of trade at Yale UK, says: “Convenience is key, and smart solutions from trusted security brands offer all that, alongside peace of mind and connectivity to create a seamlessly connected security system – a desirable combination for homeowners. “As we prepare for the autumn months

ahead, homeowners start to consider improving their home security in the easiest, most effective ways. Investing in an outdoor security camera is often the go-to action, providing a clear visual deterrent to potential opportunists, whilst also allowing users to check in remotely at any time via a smartphone.

“Yale’s new Smart Outdoor Camera has been designed to offer all-round protection to homes, driveways and gardens, working alongside the Yale Home app which connects with all the smart products in the range. “Together with connectivity, homeowners are also looking for high quality camera footage too. The new Yale release offers 1080p HD images, alongside a 154° field of view and 8x digital zoom, allowing users to focus in on a person or object for a clearer view.”

Inside and out

Whilst outdoor security cameras are often the ‘go-to’ for security-conscious homeowners, Yale’s new Smart Indoor Camera will give consumers a reason to consider securing their home from the inside out.

Claydon explains: “The Smart Indoor Camera can be picked up and placed across the home where required, with full HD live viewing, an 110° field of view and customisable zone

detection to configure the system to suit any home layout. With people detection to offer more reliable alerts, night-vision capabilities and motion-triggered recordings, homeowners can be kept up to date of the security of their home in real time.”

An entirely new product to the Yale portfolio is its new Smart Video Doorbell. “With front door security being a prevalent concern for homeowners in recent years, video doorbells have been on the radar of consumers looking to boost their home security, making it a great addition to Yale’s growing ecosystem,” says Claydon. “The Smart Video Doorbell comes with the option to be either wired and battery- powered. It has a range of key features and benefits that make it a worthy investment for homeowners this autumn. With full HD live viewing capabilities, customisable privacy zones, night-vision and 154° field of view, users are able to keep tabs on their front door and surrounding spaces for an added level of protection and convenience. “With no need for a subscription, an appealing plus point for consumers, the Smart Video Doorbell is a great addition to your product portfolio as we await the autumn months ahead.”
