Rainy Day Trust launches leaflet to promote its Covid-19 support, and has announced a new helpline number

"That’s never an easy thing to deal with. But we can bring a fresh perspective to your plans and help individuals concerned or affected by any changes. “If you, your company or anyone you know, is talking about a re-structure or job losses, please engage with us right from the start.” The leaflet highlights how the RDT can help,

will treat the situation with the utmost confidentiality and also suggests businesses might want to think about the reaction of staff who remain. “If they can see that you genuinely care about your staff, and are helping in all sorts of ways, they are far more likely to stay.” Contact the Rainy Day Trust for more information – the charity has Covid-19 application forms for financial support, a ‘Supporting your staff’ document as well as a mental health guidance document. “Whatever your needs are, we can make sure that your staff feel cared for and supported.”

The charity has also announced a new phone number 0800 9154627, which has come about through Connect Assist, RDT’s caseworking partner, having changed its telecomms provider.

The leaflet, ‘Help for your business to cope with the new normal’, urges companies to get in touch with the RDT at an early stage – as Bryan Clover CEO of the charity explains: “We’re worried that in some areas, furloughed staff will turn into redundant staff.

And then there’s the fundraising…. Now more than ever, the Rainy Day Trust is looking for funds. And here’s an easy way you can help! For example, with your online shopping, route to your chosen retailer through www.easyfundraising.co.uk. Register with them and choose Rainy Day Trust as your charity. Once registered, type in the shop you want to use in the search bar at the top, click on the link and the RDT receives a donation between 0.5 per cent and 12 per cent on your purchase. “Thanks to everyone for their continued commitment to the Charity and the wonderful job done in supporting us,” says Bryan. “These are challenging times, but we will get through it and will work to provide as much help as we can for our colleagues.”

Rainy Day Trust launches its Christmas Appeal

The Rainy Day Trust is also on the look out for donations from suppliers for its Christmas Appeal ad has already received generous support from The DRH Collection – a long-time supporter of the Appeal – as well as Kuhn Rikon, Bean Group and Tramontina. “We’re looking either for donations for stock which we can auction and raise money that way or just a financial donation. For several years now we have been putting

together hampers for our most vulnerable beneficiaries as a way of helping. In many cases, this is the only contact that they have with the outside world over the festive periods. They also receive a hand-written Christmas card from us. It can be a difficult time for many, so a hamper with a few luxury items can make all the difference. It has a small Christmas cake, tea, coffee, jam ad biscuits among other things/ Some prefer to have a voucher for their local market, especially those with dietary issues.”
