Solid Energy expands UK offering with ultra-high temperature heat pump options
D
anish manufacturer Solid Energy has upgraded its hydrocarbon range of ultra- high temperature modular heat pumps for the UK market, with the new line-up capable of reaching flow temperatures of 170°C. Industrial process heat applications in factories, food processing and distilleries are expected to be the main focus for the
very high temperature options, while the system can also provide cooling if required.
Operating on a choice of four hydrocarbon refrigerants, depending on application, the high temperature (HT) units use the same compressor technology and other components found in Solid Energy heat pumps already delivering low temperature district heating projects. The system modules range in size from 200kW to 1.2MW, and multiple modules can be linked to give larger capacities controlled as one system. The semi-hermetic screw compressors boast a design life of 100,000 hours, requiring minimal maintenance and no oil changes, and are housed in noise-reducing cabinets for ultra-quiet operation. Designed and built in Denmark, the heat pumps are delivered fully factory tested with minimal installation required, while integrated refrigerant leak detection and ATEX compliant ventilation ensures compliance with UK and European safety directives. Also introduced at the embassy event was a totally new configuration of the technology, the XL4, aimed at projects requiring high output from limited floor space. Each XL4 module has four compressors, and Solid Energy is currently working to deliver a 70MW project in Denmark.

Installers are switching to the tf1 sigma mini installer pack
F
ernox has launched its TF1 Sigma Mini Installer Pack, giving installers everything they need to clean, protect and
guard a central heating system in line with BS 7593:2019. Featuring the popular TF1 Sigma Mini filter, the pack is ideal for smaller volume systems with restricted space around the boiler, including social housing and new build properties.
In addition to the TF1 Sigma Mini, one of the smallest footprint system filters on the market, the pack contains trusted Fernox Cleaner F3 and Fernox Protector F1 265ml to clean and then protect up to 100L/12 radiators/190 sqm of underfloor heating. The pack also contains a Fernox Express Inhibitor Test Pack, making it simple to ensure the correct concentration of inhibitor is achieved to effectively protect the system. One of the newest additions to the Fernox filter range, the TF1 Sigma Mini provides a solution for systems with limited space around the boiler in which to fit a filter as it only requires a 106mm pipework footprint. The filter is backed by a 10-year warranty and has been engineered to protect the boiler from the damaging effects of circulating corrosion debris using a powerful neodymium magnet.
To make future servicing simpler, the TF1 Sigma Mini filter features a unique drain port which allows for quick and controlled cleaning or draining without the need to disassemble the filter. It also acts as a useful dosing point for the Fernox range of chemical water
treatments. Available in 22mm and ¾” versions.

NIBE adds heat network solutions to UK Portfolio
N
IBE Energy Systems Limited has expanded its HVAC solution offering with the integration to the portfolio of Cetetherm’s Pioneer Heat Interface Unit (HIU) and substation products, strengthening its mission to deliver comprehensive, net zero-ready heating solutions.
The addition introduces district
heating and cooling expertise from Sweden and enables NIBE to support both standalone, heat-pump-led projects and large-scale heat networks. NIBE’s new heat networks team includes Alan Unwin, who brings over a decade of Cetetherm experience, alongside Gulam Seedat, NIBE’s dedicated Heat Network Specialist.
“Our ambition has always been to offer the total HVAC solution – from heat pumps to solar PVT and ventilation. The Cetetherm Pioneer HIU and substations bring district and local heat network capability, addressing bespoke projects and housing developments where individual heat pumps may not be suitable,” said Paul Smith, managing director, NIBE UK. “We aim to offer a consultative and non-bias approach to our customers and the market’s needs and this step ensures we can offer the right combination of technologies for each project.” An HIU like Cetetherm’s Pioneer acts as the critical bridge within each dwelling, using plate heat exchangers to deliver space heating and hot water on demand. HIUs are highly efficient, space-saving, remotely controllable, and enhance energy metering and billing for individual users.
The Cetetherm Pioneer is a fourth-generation HIU, compatible with both district heating and heat-pump systems. It features low return temperatures (55–65 °C supply), smart control via Cetetherm myUplink, BESA/UKReg4 approval, and compact, pre-assembled design.

Complete room automation with a single device
T
he RDG200 range from Siemens Buildings offers devices which can operate on a standalone basis or as part of an integrated system to provide complete room automation in a single device.
Powerful control functionality, built-in sensors and a flexible power supply ensures the versatility to meet the needs of a wide range of room applications, with an easy-to-clean, smooth and resilient surface (in black or white). Using the open KNX communication protocol, the RDG200 can be seamlessly integrated in BMS (building management systems), including Siemens Desigo as well as a range of other third-party solutions. It includes several preloaded applications which operate in conjunction with the Green Leaf function to provide numerous options for energy efficient and sustainable room automation, helping to meet sustainability targets.
The highly intuitive design is built around touch sensitive buttons and a dial, with a customisable user interface and universal icons to make setting changes quick and easy. Relevant room data is provided via a large, easy-to- read display in a thermostat which is only 25mm deep. The versatility of the unit’s outputs and its ventilation features makes it suitable for most installation requirements, including fan coil, heat pump and universal applications.
For those environments where air quality is a priority, the RDG200 features an in-built CO2 sensor, in addition to its sensors monitoring temperature and humidity for achieving well being in buildings. The RDG200 is suitable for a whole host of applications, from general office environments to classrooms and hotel rooms.
