sh View Extra Care facility is a new specialist housing development for Kirklees Council of 50 flats located in Huddersfield. Heating of the flats and communal areas, along with hot water, is provided through a
heat network system using four Ideal Heating Commercial Evomax 2 100kW wall-mounted boilers operating in cascade on a standard height frame and header kit as the energy centre, and 50 POD HIUs with first fix kits and factory fitted hard wired Mbus heat meters. The four Evomax 2 boilers are running in cascade for an energy efficient solution as they have a higher modulation ratio than a single larger boiler, so there is less need for each individual boiler to cycle on and off to meet changing demands for heating. The PODs installed in each of the self-contained flats at Ash View Extra
Care are indirect i305 HIUs, meaning they contain two highly efficient stainless steel brazed plate heat exchangers to provide complete separation between the heat network for both heating and hot water. Their small footprint and compact overall envelope mean POD HIUs can readily fit in a kitchen or airing cupboard or existing utility area. The installer on this project, V&T (Plumbing & Heating Services) Ltd., chose
Ideal Heating based on past performance and back up support received. Tom Crawford, Design Engineer at V&T, has been pleased with the outcome: “Our engineers on site found installing the Evomax 2s, mounting frames and header arrangement easy; these were fitted in a matter of hours.” V&T benefited from Ideal Heating Commercial’s free commissioning
service on the Evomax 2 which also enables a five-year warranty to be applied to the appliance at no extra cost.
