Ellis Training offers the full package of qualifications to help you progress in the Heat Pump industry whether it is Air to Air or Air to Water Heat Pump training courses


W


hat we all know as air conditioning systems have for over 20 years been able to provide both space cooling and heating


and are actually ‘Air to Air Heat Pumps’. As we are now all aware, there is an increasing need for both cooling homes in summer and of course heating homes in winter.


Air to Air Heat Pumps are rapidly being


recognised as a practical and efficient option for heating with the benefit of cooling and dehumidification which can help deal with mould often found in well insulated homes. The UK government is considering adding these


systems to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme as not all domestic residences are suited to the installation of an Air to Water Heat Pump but most homes could be fitted with an Air to Air Heat Pump system. Air to Water Heat Pumps are replacing boilers as the source of heating for domestic hot water and wet heating systems. We are an approved centre for the City & Guilds


Air to Water Heat Pump qualification. Having offered the original award some 10 years ago, we are thrilled it’s now been updated and is an MCS approved training course, an important step to gaining MCS accreditation for a company or sole trader. This course is specifically intended for qualified heating and plumbing engineers who wish to design, install, commission and maintain air source heat pumps. Why City & Guilds? This qualification has more emphasis on the refrigeration side of heat pump systems, which we think is extremely important as they are fundamentally refrigeration systems, our specialism! We have always preferred external


assessment for knowledge exams. We prefer those that do not have to be renewed unless there is a legal requirement to do so. We also recognise their standing, as does industry, as the leading awarding body. For over 15 years we have been running the City & Guilds Split Air Conditioning Installation and Commissioning 10-day course for those who are heating and plumbing engineers or others who want to get involved in the installation of Air to Air Heat Pumps and this course includes the Category 1 F Gas. Unlike the Air to Water Heat Pump qualification there are no entry requirements which gives an opportunity to more people who want to get involved. Note, anyone who only has the Air to Water Heat Pump qualification cannot break into the refrigerant side of the system.


So with the emphasis on heat pumps replacing gas boilers to heat our homes, this gives excellent opportunities for everyone to become involved in the electrification of heating. Our recent move to a beautiful church in Watton at Stone, which we have converted into our new


training centre, has been an exciting experience offering us the chance to design an exceptional building in which to train. We have created a cosy, inviting and calm environment to study which is state of the art, showcasing AC systems, heat pumps as well as a full heat recovery ventilation system and of course our refrigeration systems. As with all our training, the emphasis is on giving students the maximum opportunity for practical work (hands on). Our numerous Air Conditioning and Heat Pump systems that students work on while training gives them the maximum amount of exposure to working systems and the chance to practice their new skills and knowledge. Our tutors/instructors are qualified teachers


dedicated to delivering the courses we run in the most professional and engaging manner. Our business is 100% teaching and learning, we don’t sell, manufacture or hire equipment and aren’t contractors. We have always concentrated on delivering the best education and training that we can and our new centre is already gaining significant approval from our students as a ‘great learning environment’. Our dedication, enthusiasm and desire to deliver is borne out by the feedback questionnaires that all our students complete. We only offer real education and training and the opportunities that go with it.
