Energy saving and accuracy as standard
F
ollowing the update to Part L of Building Regulations earlier this year, low temperature heating, alongside a raft of other measures designed to boost efficiency, are now required by law in new builds. Unlike its previous incarnation, full replacement systems in existing housing stock are also included, vastly expanding the number of properties (and installers) affected by the changes.
What changes will affect plumbing & heating engineers?
Low-flow temperature requirements - new heating systems must be designed with a maximum flow temperature of 55°C, down from 80°C under the 2013 regulations.
There are many factors pushing the green agenda at the moment, coming at installers and their customers from every angle. Rising fuel prices and incentives like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme are forcing end- users’ hands. Minimum efficiencies for gas-fired heating
system - high efficiency condensing gas boiler must have a minimum efficiency of 92% ErP. radiator valves (TRVs) are now required in new dwellings and in existing homes when a boiler (note: not full system) is replaced.
