JS Air Curtains has added to its product portfolio; CIAT has introduced a new range of chillers and heat pumps; Zalando has found a cooling solution with Panasonic; MHG’s products are installed at London’s Bloomsbury Plaza; Nortek reviews the new Gas Appliance Regulation; Zehnder offers its Alumline range

JS Air Curtains

The Zen from JS Air Curtains features fascia panels that can be custom-made in different materials, screen printed to carry logos or images, and manufactured to incorporate elements such as clocks and LED displays. The Zen air curtain is supplied as standard with anodized aluminium fascia panels and a galvanised steel central structure. The unit can be mounted on brackets or drop rods horizontally above doorways up to 4.2m high. It is available in 0.5m lengths from 1-2.5m, with the option to join units to cover wide entrances. Heating can be via LPHW, electric or heat pump, or the Zen is available as an air only, non-heated air curtain. Low noise, double-inlet centrifugal fans provide up to 2,700m3/h of airflow per metre of air curtain. The Zen air curtain is supplied with a manual controller, with five fan speeds and three heater stages. www.jsaircurtains.com

Panasonic

When Zalando required a cooling solution for its warehouse office conversion in Dublin, FKM Group selected the Panasonic 3-pipe ECOi MF2 AC. With a compact design and low level of noise, it allows for non-stop operation during maintenance. The ERV of the MF2 system recovers 77% of the heat in the outgoing air, with the air conditioning load reduced by 20%, giving significant energy savings. In summer, the system allows for a purge during the night. The number of ERVs running at one time can be reduced depending on the number of people in the space. The system has a centralised controller that allows management of the entire space. Each area in the space is fitted with ECO NAVI detectors to automatically reduce energy consumption when rooms are unoccupied. User-friendly remote controls are also fitted.

From April 21 2018, all products will have to comply with the new Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR). Nick Winton, divisional manager for Nortek Global HVAC UK, explains that the change moves away from having several country-specific requirements and replaces them with one consistent set of rules across the entirety of the EU. The CE Marking of gas appliances is currently regulated by the EU GAD. This will be replaced by the GAR (EU 2016/426). This change will impact everybody in the gas appliances and fittings supply chain within the EU. The GAR requires manufacturers to ensure products comply with ‘state-of-the-art’ EN standards. The new regulation will come in at least one year before the UK leaves the EU. Current understanding is that EU regulations will be subsumed into UK law with little evidence that the GAR will not be included. www.nortekhvac.com

CIAT

CIAT has launched its Dynaciat range of compact water- cooled chillers and heat pumps. The range features 17 models in two product lines: the Dynaciat LG, water-cooled chillers and heat pumps, and the Dynaciat LGN, condenser-less chillers. All are available from 25 to 190kW. The Dynaciat range increases its ESEER coefficient by 15% to 6.22 and SCOP by 13% to 6.37. The increased efficiency and subsequent reduction in power consumption significantly improves the return on investment of the unit. Dynaciat units can automatically adjust cooling capacity. The entire range is compliant with current Ecodesign standards and European regulations. Available with a high- or low-pressure pump, the Dynaciat provides an all-in-one solution with its integrated hydraulic module. www.ciat.org.uk

MHG

MHG Gassero Wallcon boilers and MHG hot water cylinders have been supplied to Bloomsbury Plaza in central London, alongside an MHG pressure manager and vessel. The two 115kW Gassero Wallcon boilers were supplied complete with wall-mounting frames, in addition to two hot water cylinders which are each serving two separate zones within the building. As the plant room is on the roof the boilers, frame and associated pipework were delivered in component parts for assembly on site. MHG Gassero Wallcon 115kW wall-mounted gas-fired condensing boilers feature low NOx (Class 5) performance and incorporate a fully modulating pre-mix burner with 4:1 turndown capability. Furthermore, they can be supplied with matched mounting frames and cascade hydraulics, including low loss headers, or matched system separation plate heat exchangers. www. mhgheating.co.uk

Zehnder

Zehnder’s Alumline range has transformed the radiant heating and cooling (RHC) panel market, offering excellent heat output, cost efficiency and ease of installation. With market- leading thermal performance, Zehnder’s Carboline range won the CIBSE Energy-Using Product Award in 2011. Alumline is the next step in this history of innovation, providing a high-performance economical alternative for commercial projects. Alumline uses the same aesthetic panel design as Carboline, but with an activation made of aluminium and copper in place of the graphite and copper solution. The result is swift responses to temperature changes, and energy efficiency at a very competitive price. With options including closed ceiling modules and ceiling sails, the Alumline range provides considerable architectural freedom. www.zehnder.co.uk
