rom major international airports to local churches. From leading hospitals to commercial offices. From the UK to Australia. Conex Bänninger pipe fittings and valves are providing strength and security around the globe where reliable connections are critical in a vast range of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and medical applications. As a company within the IBP Group its heritage
F
can be traced back to 1909. However, it is very much a forward-looking business with a focus on bringing innovation to the market, be that in domestic, commercial or industrial sectors. While it continues to produce traditional fittings,
its commitment to product development has seen it develop ranges such as >B<Press, Copper Push-Fit, and >B< Push. Offering flame free installations, they are
increasingly becoming ‘the norm’ as specifiers and installers choose them over traditional braze, preferring their ease and speed of installation, ultimately improving productivity. Conex Bänninger’s newest offering, the three-
point press >B< MaxiPro range of fittings, is its most advanced press-fit product to date. This range of mechanical joints is specially engineered to withstand the higher operating pressures of up to 48-bar required by air conditioning and refrigeration applications.

Following success in Australia, the range is seeing significant take-up in the UK and Europe. It was the choice for ACR specialist Absolute
Zero, for an air conditioning refit for a commercial property investment and development company in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Absolute Zero was required to install a system
where the refrigerant piping needed to be fitted above the office’s ceiling tiles while the tenant’s employees remained at their desks. The job was further complicated by the confined
space and close proximity of electric cabling. Absolute Zero director Steve Hurst said: “The job
was complex but we needed a simple solution. Clearly brazing with a naked flame would be a considerable health and safety risk for the staff and the installation team. “The pipework preparation was largely the same as with braze but the actual fittings took less than half the time than if we used a hot flame solution. We did all 60 fittings across 150 metres of copper tube in less than one day.” Market rollout of >B< MaxiPro is backed by a mandated training and certification programme that ensures installation engineers are able to benefit from all of the product’s advantages from day one. Within the UK commercial market place, Conex Bänninger has secured projects both large and small and not just for its >B< MaxiPro.

The year 2017 will go down as one of milestones and innovation excellence for Conex Bänninger, a global specialist in the design, manufacture and supply of fittings and valves. Here, HVR highlights some of the brand’s key products
Its >B< Press fittings played a vital role in the £500,000 restoration of Gloddaeth United Church in Llandudno, where some 300 of the brand’s press-fit fittings were used on the job. This included two slave boilers, fan heaters,
radiators and trench heating within the church kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, meaning that 300 to 400 metres of pipework had to be installed. Guy Wright, plumbing and heating engineer at
The Wright Plumbing, explained: “The speed of installation was hugely beneficial in finishing the project in good time and was a lot less hassle than soldering, not to mention having to secure the hot work licence for the premises too. We were also impressed with the quality of the joints.” While maintaining a strong presence in its home
market, with its engineering and design team firmly rooted in the UK, this year marked the 25th anniversary of production in Poland. The manufacturing and distribution centre near the
city of Poznan supports a total of around 550 jobs, fulfilling its potential as a base for thriving sales in markets across Europe and around the globe. Today’s state-of-the-art facilities comprise an
ultra-modern foundry in the Poznan district and a 12,000m2
warehouse and logistics hub at nearby
Sady, from where Conex Bänninger fittings and valves, are distributed as far afield as Australia and the USA. Together the two sites employ 400 people in
production, a further 120 in logistics and 30 in sales. Bill Barlow, UK business unit director – OEM &
ACR, said establishing world class production facilities had been a key factor in the company’s progressive development over the past quarter of a century.
He said: “In tandem with the hard work and expertise of so many over the last 25 years, it is one of the cornerstones that is enabling us to fulfil our potential as a market leader.” The worldwide reach of this UK-headquartered
company can be readily seen in the thousands of projects its products are specified for. For example, In the Middle East, Conex Bänninger industrial and specification valves are helping keep water flowing and the landscape green at some of Dubai’s most prestigious infrastructure projects.
