Innovation key for Hitachi in 2018

Hitachi is one of the leading players in the HVAC market. Our mini Spotlight feature this month sets out the bullet points about this global brand

Who is Hitachi?

Hitachi has been a pioneer since it opened its first air conditioning factory in Shimizu in 1944, achieving a number of air conditioning ‘world firsts’ and a rich history of air conditioning innovation for more than 70 years. In 2015 Johnson Controls Hitachi Air Conditioning was established as a joint venture between Hitachi Appliances Inc and Johnson Controls Inc where two 100-year old histories came together to create one new company. The company is one of the leading players in the HVAC market globally, throughout Europe and also in the UK and Ireland. Its products are described as technically reliable and innovative. Hitachi has evolved in the UK market by focusing on the specification and design and build sectors of the market. We are growing our distribution network and have specific distributors that create new demand for our products.

Describe your product range?

We supply RAC, PAC VRF and chiller products to a commercial and industrial client base. Our heat pumps meet the needs of domestic residential and small commercial customers. We also supply control systems to drive our heating and cooling product.

What products are in demand?

Our VRF, heat pumps and modular chillers are all innovative products and are smaller and more efficient than many comparable models.

What are your key challenges?

The modern day challenges are the new F-gas regulations and getting installers comfortable installing the new R32 models, for example. Hitachi offers regular training to its Hi-Pro installers, to ensure new units with these eco-friendly gases in commercial buildings are correctly and technically installed. Hitachi R32 equipment all comes fully charged with R32 gases.

the UK.

What are your future plans?

To continue to innovate and deliver products to meet both environmental and customers’ needs. We see a growing opportunity for air conditioning within the new build residential sector in the UK/Ireland. We also aim to be a Top 3 player in our markets. We predict 2018 will be an

exciting year for Hitachi as we launch a number of innovative, market-leading products, including our new Sigma VRF which has some of the best COP and EER values currently available
