Visitors praise HVAC&R Show 2018

The biennial HVAC & Refrigeration Show took place at London’s ExCeL from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 January. Organiser Datateam Business Media opted for a new London venue – which proved to be a huge success, with over 3,000 visitors coming through the doors over the course of the three day exhibition

high concentration of business taking place in the south, the new venue also made the show more accessible to international visitors, leaving exhibitors impressed with both the quantity and quality of the leads. Visitors were able to explore thousands of products on

T

offer from market-leading companies under one roof, providing an inclusive hub for all refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, heating and heat pump requirements. The show also offered unmissable knowledge, with over 20 highly-attended CPD accredited seminars and the brand new Industry Insight Series, which allowed individuals from across the RACHP sectors to engage with a panel of experts on key topics including well buildings and the future of refrigerated transport. One highlight of the show was the launch of a revamped

DW/172 by the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA). DW/172 is the industry’s primary guidance document for kitchen ventilation systems. BESA president Tim Hopkinson described the launch as a” very important occasion for the Association” and anyone involved in “an increasingly bouyant and important area for building enegineering firms”. First time exhibitor Conex Bänninger was impressed by the audience drawn to the venue. UK business unit director Bill Barlow comments: “The footfall has been great, and we received a number of international enquiries as well as leads from the shipping industry.” “The number of visitors was impressive, but more so the quality of the visitors; they were exactly the kind of people that we were hoping to meet. We met serious buyers which has really made the show stand out from other exhibitions that we’ve attended.” Conex was showcasing the latest version of its >B< Maxi

Pro, which was also a big drawcard on the Brymec stand which was offering a Rothenberger press tool with >B< Maxi Pro jaws to one lucky winner. Managing director of Business Edge, Mike Creamer, was also impressed with the show, saying: “We’ve been busy talking all the time – it’s been great! I’ve not had an opportunity to leave the stand for the whole three days.” Fujitsu Air Conditioning took up a large stand at the show to support the launch of an array of new products over the past year. Product marketing coordinator Kelly Bullivant commented: “The show has been really good. We had one of our distributors on the stand next to us, so we had a unique opportunity to feed off of each other. We’ve launched so many products in the last year so we’ve had a lot of interest!”

Parcel Holders managing director Ed Fraser, said: "The whole show was great and provided an ideal place to officially launch into HVAC&R. We come from a vending background and are also fast becoming the obvious solution in refrigeration but heating and ventilation are also sectors where we can make a real difference to companies which depend on their mobile engineers to get machines fixed really fast." “So instead of having engineers drive out to depots or

trade counters or use costly locked vans or storage box solutions, companies can have parts sent to an engineer's local shop instead. They get a text with a secure pin and collect on their way to the job. It's simple and engineers love it,” said Ops director, Monika Douglas. At the HVAC&R Show, Parcel Holders was offering extended

free trials. Companies' engineers could try the service out for four weeks instead of the usual two. Mention this edition of HVR in an email or call to Parcel Holders and they will be happy to continue their offer until the end of March 2018. Refcom’s Graeme Fox said he had received plenty of

interest into Refcom’s Joblogic Software which helps engineers work more efficiently and maximises workforce productivity. Air Intake Screen specialist ECEX’s new Magna-Track magnetic track mounting system, which allows Air Intake Screens to be easily fitted in sensitive or difficult to reach areas, was another show highlight. Managing director John Grenville said: “As newcomers to the show it’s been quite successful. The footfall and interest has been very steady.” Richard Betts of RABScreen, the external air intake

company, said he had received up to 100 live leads after two days at the show. RABScreen was also making its debut at the show.

Okappy CEO Richard Harris showcased his new market network software

Another newcomer to the show was Okappy which is launching a new market network for HVAC companies – a Facebook like system for business or a market network. Okappy CEO Richard Harris said the HVAC industry is changing and that there is now an appetite for a job management network allowing companies to connect with customers and subcontractors and build relationships. Okappy already has thousands of users on its system

since it launched initially to electrical and plumbing contractors last year. David Cowood, sales manager for Pole Star Products, stated: “We’ve had a good number of enquiries at the show, so based on this experience we would definitely come back.” The HVAC & Refrigeration Show will return to London’s ExCeL from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 January 2020. With the growing success of the exhibition, companies are encouraged to secure their stands early to avoid disappointment.
