s organisers of the 7th IIR International Conference on Sustainability and the Cold
Chain the Institute of Refrigeration is delighted to announce the launch of a student prize, which will encourage researchers to contribute their work to the conference programme and identify the best paper written by a student author. A prize for the winning paper available in each of the conference streams which are: Q Innovation in the Cold Chain. Q Retail refrigeration, technology development and design. Q Building a sustainable Cold Chain in developing nations.
The lead student author of each paper will receive a prize of £250.00 and an overall winner will be selected to receive an additional prize of £250.00. Students can find out how to submit an abstract for their paper for the conference at

Taking place online from 11 to 13 April 2022, the 7th IIR International Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain will explore cold chain innovation, developments in refrigeration technology and design and examine what is being done to build a sustainable cold chain to address key UN sustainable development goals related to hunger, health, energy, education, economic growth, infrastructure, sustainable cities, responsible production,
climate action and partnerships. The conference is aimed at end users, component manufacturers, senior representatives of engineering, marketing and product development, innovation leaders, professors, researchers, teachers, students, system and equipment designers, equipment and system buyers, professional engineers, production and operation managers, and policymakers.

he Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) has now announced the full
line-up of speakers for its 2021 National Conference taking place online on November 3 and 4. Structured around an overall theme of ‘Building Back Better, Safer, Greener’ the virtual event will have a strong focus on the detailed technical elements of rebuilding from the pandemic, delivering the requirements of new building safety legislation, modernising the sector’s workforce, and pushing on towards a net zero emissions future. The Linkedin group will be a place to share tips and opportunities to engage with young people and promote the RACHP sector and careers Anyone can join the RACHP STEM – raising awareness of careers in cooling group to get ideas for experiments aimed at school-age young people and to exchange information on career
fairs or school talk opportunities. We hope that it will also become a forum for companies able to offer work placements and recruiting apprentices. Commenting on the launch of the
