n the challenging times facing independent

electrical retailers, as the cost-of-living bites and product supply remains tight, I’m delighted that this issue of IER features the retailer shortlist ahead of

the IER Awards. This year’s IER Awards takes place in London on

Friday, June 16, and is the industry event of the year and I cannot wait to see independent electrical retailers recognised for the work they do in the communities they serve. It’s been great since the judging session to see

retailer fi nalists highlighting on social media that they’ve got this far in the process – there’s not long to go. Good luck to all fi nalists. The shortlist for the manufacturer categories is also published in this issue of IER – and this is where you can have your say, as the retailer vote is now open. You have until Friday, March 31, to cast your votes.

Once again, EPE International is off ering prizes

exist without the support of our sponsors, so I’d like to take a moment to thank you for backing the awards; even after 31 years of hosting the awards, we don’t take your support for granted and we are grateful that you support this industry event. For this issue, I met with Harry Kyriacou, the chief commercial offi cer of Strix, and managing director of the Isle of Man company’s consumer brands division. Like many independent retailers, I’ve known Harry for a long time, from his time at Philips and Whirlpool. Strix has an interesting story to tell and I’m

delighted that Harry is wanting to work with independent retailers. The company is promising innovative products that harness Strix technology, and Harry details some of the most recent innovations during the course of the interview, which you can read on p16. I’d very much like to hear from retailers, manufacturers and distributors; feel free to drop me an email at the address below
