North East Lincolnshire business secures funding from Barclays CBIL Scheme

Government backed Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) in order to maintain the ability to trade through the COVID-19 crisis.

G

Established in 2002, G-Tech provide the design, installation and commissioning of industrial, commercial and domestic electrical installations throughout the UK, including schools, local authorities and shopping centres. G-Tech successfully secured £250,000 of funding which will support cashflow

during the lockdown period, ensuring the business can meet its obligations and support the return to ‘business as usual’ following the downturn. Guy Wakefield, Director of G-Tech Electrical Contractors, said: “This should

have been our best year yet in terms of profitability and turnover – and I’m hopeful that this still could be the case. However, Covid-19 has impacted us by both shutting down our sites and pushing back our pipeline of work... The biggest thing for us was the accessing the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan to support our cashflow, which has ensured we’re able to pay overheads and any operating costs.”

rimsby-based business G-Tech Electrical Contractors has announced it has received support from Barclays through the

Association (ECA). Over 30 years ago, Gary became an engineer for Lorne Stewart Engineering, a prominent M&E business and longstanding ECA Member. Gary progressed through the business to become CEO of Lorne Stewart’s engineering division, having held several senior management roles along the way. Gary takes over the ECA Presidency from Jim Pridham, who played a key role during the past 12 months, most notably through his promotion of industry training and apprenticeships. Worrall commented: “As someone who is passionate about electrical and engineering services, I’m delighted to be taking over this prestigious ECA role as an industry advocate and leader. The industry currently faces unprecedented challenges, and I am determined to play a role in supporting ECA Member businesses and the industry through these extremely difficult times.” The full ECA Presidential team for 2020/21 is: President – Gary Worrall

EIC supports Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

The Electrical Industries Charity has always championed positive mental health in both work and home life. It is more vital than ever to create and try to maintain a positive mindset and be vigilant for signs of ill mental health in others. The Electrical Industries Charity is excited to promote the theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week - kindness.

I

t is more important than ever to be kind, to look aſter one and other and be kind to ourselves. In a confusing and uncertain world, a kind gesture can be all that is needed to place a smile on

your face and someone else's. Kindness is something we can all practice and in these times of pandemic, kindness is all around us. From those who donate to food banks, offer their time to shop for the vulnerable, to those who have painted rainbows in their windows to thank our key workers. These little pick-me- ups are what keep us going in these tough times. We may be in a world flooded with uncertainty and some of us may feel

despairing but take the time to improve your own well-being and someone else’s. Little gestures don’t cost the earth, but they mean the world. We have never been more physically distant; kindness can bridge that gap and help form steppingstones of smiles to feeling together again. If you would like to understand more about your own mental health, your

family’s, friends’ and colleagues’ then why not sign up to The Electrical Industries Charity’s virtual mental health training course, which you can do from your own home. Courses are limited to six participants at a time and you will receive access to powerpoints, video and interactive communication as well as open communication with a qualified trainer.
