Waterproof electronics specialist ProofVisionoffers an exciting range of products, all with a focus on being IP rated: ranging from outdoor LCD screen solutions for both residential and commercial projects, through to indoor products like waterproof TVs for the bath or shower. Based in Northolt, West London with an internal team of 12 and a network of eight sales agents, ProofVision has a clear focus on providing the trade with a modern, up-to-date brand. EW spoke to founder and CEO William Uttley to find out more.

EW:What is your role at ProofVision? Can you tell us about your background in the electrical and electronic manufacturing industry - what have been some of your career highlights?

WU: As managing director, I am focused on managing our great team whilst sharing and delivering on the vision for the brand. I also work very closely with our product designer to improve our existing product range continuously, helping to expand our product ranges with new and innovative solutions. My background is a little different - I graduated with a marketing and management degree and then spent a year working for a start-up that was invested in by Theo Papthitis of Dragons Den. It wasvthe biggest investment at the time, £250,000, the focus of which was to promote the online gaming industry through affiliate networks. I left a year into the project to set up ProofVision with a credit card and no investment. Everything I have learnt has been on the job - whilst sometimes hard, building the business is often the best way to learn. The key I have found is that you don’t need to know everything in the industry or business, but just make sure you employ people who can fill your gaps.
