main lamp suppliers whereas nowadays there’s a plethora of companies offering lighting products, same as in the switches and socket world. It’s a great selling point for MK Electric as a brand with such a strong and proud UK heritage and numerous ground-breaking achievements to its name, starting with the first Multy Kontact socket in 1919, which was noted for its advanced safety features. In 1996, there was the launch of Logic Plus and its unique (at the time) patented features such as a three pin, child-resistant shutter, in-line terminals and captive and backed out screws.

What do you think will be the next big development in the

electrical industry?

Society is heading towards a smarter and more sustainable future, and I think this will

have a huge impact on the industry. Buildings owners are under increasing pressure to be more energy efficient and modernise their operations, which will inevitably make connectivity an important topic.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting out in the industry, what would it be?

Make a promise to a customer and keep it. Customers respect you more if you’re honest

about what you can and can’t do, rather than making a promise and not following through with it.

What’s your favourite MK product, past or present?

I’d say MK Dimensions because it’s a screwless range with nine different finishes

that look really smart. It’s a big hit with customers, too, thanks to features that make light work of specification and installation, such as two-part design with a clip-on front-plate and functional module as individual component products, so they can order the parts separately to fit in with their build schedules.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I’d probably call it a hidden knowledge rather than a talent, but something not

many people know about me is that I played chess to a high level when I was younger and was ‘number one board’ in the under-18s category at the age of 11. I still enjoy a game nowadays from time to time, but only as a hobby.
