Upgraded Emergency Bulkhead proves perfect guardian

Ansell Lighting has upgraded its popular Guardian Emergency Bulkhead, incorporating a sleek new design and improved installation features.

P

roviding up to 18 metres viewing distance when illuminated, the powerful new luminaire is an effective emergency light. Supplied with self-adhesive legend, it is self-test as standard and comes pre-programmed to automatically initiate routine statutory- required testing. Eliminating the requirement for manual testing, it provides convenient and accurate maintenance and ensures building compliance. Easy to mount on walls and ceilings, improvements to the design of the Guardian Emergency Bulkhead mean that the quick- release, push-fit terminal is now attached to the base of the product allowing the LED to have a plug and play feature. It also features 20mm side, end and rear cable entries for a quick and easy install.

The battery in the Guardian Emergency Bulkhead has also been upgraded to a Lithium-

Ion Phosphate battery, providing many additional benefits. From monitoring against short circuit, over-charging and mechanical damage, the lithium battery also has a lower parasitic load which reduces power consumption and therefore leads to lower costs and a reduced carbon footprint. The luminaire also comes with a 5-year warranty as standard and has an L70 50,000 hour lifetime.

Mark Abbott, managing director at Ansell Lighting, said: “The Guardian Bulkhead has been a popular product in our lighting range for some time. Functional and easy to install, it is used

Electrician turned businessman, Mike Page, kits out new Loadout headquarters

F

ormer electrician Mike Page’s new company Loadout specialises in the supply of hand tools, tool storage, test equipment and workwear. Earlier this year Loadout opened its brand new headquarters in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire - a unit which comprises office space, a showroom and an extensive warehouse facility. A well known face on Scolmore’s YouTube channel, SGTV, and a long-time fan of Scolmore products, Mike opted for solutions from across the group to kit out the entire premises. Click wiring accessories, Ovia light fittings and emergency lighting, and fire detection products from ESP, have all been installed.

At the entrance to the unit can be seen products from the Click Essentials Metal Clad range. Perimeter trunking running through the premises houses a

range of sockets, fused spurs and switches from the range.

When it came to securing the premises with the appropriate fire alarm system, Mike worked with the design team at ESP to come up with the most appropriate scheme. ESP’s MagDuo two-wire fire system was selected.

Just above the door at the entrance to the unit is one of Ovia’s 3W LED emergency maintained exit signs. Ovia’s emergency twin spots have also been installed with the self-test versions chosen. In the event of loss of power, these will come on and illuminate the warehouse. The warehouse is very well lit with four of Ovia’s very powerful 100W Grus highbays.

The new showroom is also a studio area where Mike films videos for the business. Featuring CCTV cameras for security, Mike explains that the CCTV

system used to protect all aspects of the premises, inside and out is ESP’s Rekor IP CCTV system. A total of six cameras have been installed, covering the office area, the warehouse and showroom and the exterior. Inceptor Slate LED panels have been installed in the showroom and Mike chose to have these suspended rather than surface mounted, as it worked better with the structure of the building and the positioning of the rafters.

Mike said: “I’m really happy with how everything has turned out. With the help of the design teams at Ovia and ESP we have the best products and solutions for all aspects of the business here – power, lighting and security. We wanted to create a military aesthetic throughout the unit and all the products work well to help achieve this.” www.scolmore.com

widely in applications of all types so developing an emergency, lithium powered version, was the next natural progression.” www.anselluk.com
