Irish designer Bróg, Korean brands Nuosmiq and Then, Italian brands Lancialy Milano, Apice, Le Signe, Servati by Marco Primiceri, Nigerian brand Wuman, Dutch brand Sassy Icon, British designer Marco Castelli Collection.
Over 50 years of tradition and innovation
T
his September’s MICAM highlighted more than half a century of history, combining heritage and innovation, in a way that has made it a key international showcase for both Italian SMEs and global brands presenting their latest collections.
The celebrations included fashion shows, talks on innovation, a dedicated exhibition and the issue of a commemorative stamp. Visitors were taken on a wonderful journey through the past, present and future of MICAM.
The fair has grown steadily since its beginnings in Vigevano, cradle of Italian shoemaking, which hosted the first footwear exhibition in 1931. In 1974 A.N.C.I., the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers, took over its management, establishing MICAM as a global leader. Over time, it has successfully combined Italian and international craftsmanship, a passion

for shoemaking, constant innovation and a forward-looking vision.
Since the early 2000s Milan has been the fair’s home, underlining its increasingly international reach. In 2017 MICAM introduced new spaces for events, training, entertainment and seminars, offering visitors a more complete experience. A major rebranding followed in 2018, paving the way to this year’s landmark edition.
Alongside new SS26 collections from leading international brands and Italy’s most renowned manufacturing districts, a special exhibition “100 STEPS INTO THE FUTURE” retraced the evolution of taste, style and technology through iconic images. Each decade was represented by two models: one lifestyle shoe reflecting everyday trends, and one technical sport shoe symbolising innovation and performance.
