T
his year’s scorching Summer edition of Footwear Today Live took place in August, returning once again to the National Conference Centre (NCC) in Birmingham. This time we had more than 130 different footwear, fashion and accessories brands on display – all spread out across nine event rooms across two floors! We welcomed hundreds of footwear retailers from all over the UK, with many of them commenting on how the show has grown and the fact that they needed to attend both days of the show simply to get round it all!
Attendees said it has become such a convenient and timely buying event in the industry calendar. Indeed, it is a very friendly show, not to mention its great location in the midlands and easy access with free parking and even a shuttle bus between the NCC and Birmingham International Train Station! Footwear Today Live provides retailers the first chance to see, in person, new ranges for the upcoming seasons! And many retailers book appointments with their biggest brand partners and use the show to place their orders for the year ahead.
What the retailers said… “It’s no exaggeration to say that the Footwear Today Live show has been a game-changer for me and my shops,” said Sarah Decent from Modish. “Having all of my favourite suppliers under one roof is so helpful so I’m not spending all day trekking from hall to hall!
“Also as the show isn’t too late in the buying calendar it’s a really good way to cast my eye over what’s coming in the season ahead. I have also signed up a couple of new suppliers at the show, which says a lot for the quality of the exhibitors!”
Elsewhere, Simon Drinkwater from Magnus Shoes spent two days at the August show… “We love the fact we can see so many of our suppliers in one go; it’s so much easier than them visiting us and taking up precious hours out of our day,” he commented. “The show is incredibly easy to get to, very centrally located and parking is plentiful!”
Travelling down from Inverurie in Scotland, Dale Bruce from W M Bruce Shoes also visited on both days to buy her stock for next season… “We buy most of our stock at the show because, unfortunately, we have very few shoe shops around us up in Scotland so it’s not viable for a lot of reps to travel and show us their

brands. Therefore, it’s important that we make the trip twice a year to this Birmingham show.” She continued: “This is where we can see new brands for footwear, handbags, purses, belts and shoe care products. We love to buy from Pikolinos, Waldlaufer, Ecco, Ara, Ciel Regarde, Bugatti, Mephisto, Lotus, Anatomic, Josef Seibel, Jewn and Shoe String at these shows. “We see and buy at the show to enable prompt deliveries. It’s great all being under one roof; we find it very organised and sociable, especially when we can talk to other buyers while having the lovely lunch that is available. “We hope that Footwear Today Live can continue to grow as we find it very successful and will continue to visit in the years to come.”
Spotting new footwear trends Louise Crush, of Just Shoes in Kent, said the show gives her and her colleagues the opportunity to see all their key brands via planned appointments… “It gives us enough quality ime to browse without the distractions of customers in the shop or potentially losing sales on the shopfloor!
“I find nothing beats touching and feeling the products and you can compare very easily as the show is so easy to navigate. The atmosphere
