Q: What’s selling well right now? What are your best-selling footwear brands – and why? A: Ricosta, Start-rite and Geox are my biggest brands. We used to sell more fashion shoes, but now school shoes are my biggest sellers. I would have to say that Ricosta is probably my favourite children’s footwear brand; it’s a quality brand, it has very few faulty returns and it has superb products. Plus its customer service is second-to-none!


Q: How important is shoe fitting to your business? Are you or any of your staff members of the Society of Shoe Fitters? A: All my staff have a passion for providing excellent customer service and


understand the importance of shoe fitting. I am qualified with the Society of Shoe Fitters, and I train my staff to their methodology.


Q: Does your shop sell other items besides footwear, such as bags, gloves etc? A: Yes, we sell clothing, socks, rucksacks, lunch boxes, hair accessories, toys and we’re even looking to invest in Mermaid Tails as an extra purchase at the till!


Q: How do you select your products – which criteria do you use/what are your customers looking for? A: A lot of the time it is about knowing your customers’ likes and dislikes. Fashion changes, but girls always like the sparkly shoes, but it’s how far you go with it… Sometimes I get it wrong – it is really a matter of trial and error. Before attending a stockroom show, we look at our stock and what
