I don’t really have any specific favourite brands because each brand we keep has different reasons for it to be my favourite – some have a great fit, some have great technology, and some are very good to deal with as a company. There are lots of different reasons I work with these brands and companies and I’m proud to have them all on our shelves.
Q: How important is shoe fitting to your business? Are you or any of your staff members of the Society of Shoe Fitters? A: Comfort and fit are important and it’s a huge part of our customer service – spending the time with each customer to make sure they get the perfect fit.
Q: Does your shop sell other items besides footwear, such as bags, gloves, tights, socks, below-the-ankle products? A: We do have a small range of shoe care products to sell alongside the shoe range, and our handbag range is quite popular with our customers.
Q: How do you select your products – which criteria do you use, and what are your customers looking for? A: Buying the new season stock for the shop is always exciting and we focus on buying a range rather than just a specific look. It’s always important to offer a good variety for our customers – and think about the customer when we’re selecting that range.
Q: Do you have a favourite footwear agent you can tell us about? A: The agents are part of why we keep the brands we do, and over the years they learn what you are looking for as a shop and they know we always like to see the new trends and styles they offer. Working with the agents from the brands we keep is a big part of bringing the right collection to Champley Shoes each season and getting the best range for our customers.
Q: Have you always had a passion for footwear? How many pairs of shoes do you own? Do you have a favourite pair? A: Absolutely! Shoes have always been on the top of my shopping list – there is nothing like having a new pair of shoes in your wardrobe! I have lost count how many pairs I have but I do have lots of favourites – I like all leather shoes and leather-lined shoes too.
