Vision Components’ core ALPR product for OEMs is the high-performance, hardware- independent Carrida software engine with a typical processing time of 30 ms and a reading accuracy >96%. It can process all common still image and video formats, detects all plates displayed in one image, and recognizes characters with a minimum height of 12 px. OMC expands into new manufacturing facility O


MC, the pioneer in optoelectronics manufacturing, has completed its move into a new, purpose-built


manufacturing facility, reflecting an increase in demand for both its bespoke and off-the-shelf optoelectronic solutions. The company - known for its LED and fibre-optic expertise as ‘the problem solvers’ - has seen significant growth in two areas, customer-specific LED backlighting for LCD displays, and fibre optic cable assemblies, transmitters and receivers for use in industrial applications. The move into a state-of- the-art new facility will, they say, enable the company to support this growth and develop new solutions. Explains OMC’s Commercial Director, William Heath: “We


have occupied several facilities during our 30+ year history, and are delighted to have now constructed a factory designed specifically for our complex needs. Knitted wire mesh EMC gasket


nitted wire mesh is the original gasket for RFI/EMI shielding and is still one of the most cost effective


solutions. In applications where low frequencies in the magnetic field are a problem the bulk of metal in knitted mesh gaskets make it the best performer. At 10 kHz, H field (magnetic field) it is possible to achieve a shielding effectiveness of 62 dB attenuation making it suitable for EMP electromagnetic pulse) applications, at higher frequencies such as 10Ghz, attenuation’s of above 45 dB can be achieved. Knitted mesh is very versatile as it can be knitted to


any diameter from 1mm up to 25 mm as a solid mesh or over any type of sponge rubber cord or tube therefore fine-tuning its compressibility from hard to very soft. Rectangular sections are available and sponge or solid rubber with a self adhesive backing can be bonded along the length of the mesh to form an environmental seal and or act as an assembly aid.
