CONNECTED PADLOCK WITH LOCATION TRACKING OFFERS PROTECTION FOR GOODS WHILST IN TRANSIT

U

-blox is collaborating with India-based Play Inc. on a

connected GPS padlock for industrial applications. The lock, which doubles as a location tracker, features a u blox M8 GNSS receiver, MAX-M8Q, and uses the company’s CellLocate service to extend positioning to indoor locations. u blox Bluetooth low energy with NINA-B112, and 2G, 3G and 4G u- blox cellular communication modules, including some that are ATEX certified, enable communication between users and the lock. Offering a variety of access

methods, including physical keys

and keyless approaches using remote GPRS and SMS passwords as well as Bluetooth low energy or cloud-based communication via mobile device apps, the i-Lock lenables flexible grant authorisation for access to goods that are under lock; and in the event that the padlock is forcefully opened, an immediate alert via a server or, optionally, SMS is sent out. In addition to securing

mobile and stationary goods, the lock’s GNSS receiver lets users track goods in transit. The i-Lock supports a variety of tracking modes to optimise

power consumption for increased autonomy. Location-awareness further enables geofence restricted applications, in which the i-Lock can only be opened if it is within predefined geographical bounds, e.g. a petroleum filling station. www.u-blox.com/en

NEW IN-SERIES CHARGING STATIONS FOR MULTI DEVICE CHARGING New mountable stations for OKW’s Body-Case wearable

18mm watchstrap. Applications include data recording and transmission; tracking and monitoring; emergency call and notification; bio-feedback sensors for healthcare, wellness and sports fitness. It can also be used for industrial electronics. The new mountable stations can be grouped on any flat surface to enable induction charging in series. They are similar to the ranges’ existing stations but feature an open base. An IP 54 seal is available to help protect against dust or water ingress.

s t

Stations with either open or closed base are available for both sizes of the case. The stations are moulded

in UV-stable ASA (UL 94 HB). The standard colour is traffic white (RAL 9016). Other accessories include a fastening kit which enables the enclosures to be clipped to a belt or pocket; an

18mm wrist strap; spring bar tool; woven hand strap and lanyard. Customising options and the stations include: custom colours; lacquering; special materials (V-0); CNC

machining; printing (screen, tampo and digital) of legends and logos and assembly of accessories. https://www.okw.co.uk/en/Plastic-enclosures/Body-Case.htm

Optimised for use in harsh industrial environments, the 1554 flat lid and 1555 styled lid ranges of ABS and UV stabilised polycarbonate enclosures from Hammond Electronics provide IP66 sealing and good mechanical protection. The light grey RAL 7035 enclosures are designed to house printed circuit boards or DIN rail mounted components. IP66 sealing is achieved through a one piece silicone gasket in a tongue and groove seal. 23sizes from 66 x 66 x 41mm to 239 x 160 x 119mm are available with flat and styled self coloured, clear and translucent lids. Flanged lids for 10 sizes, from 119 x 66 x 42mm to 180 x 119 x 62mm, provide increased security by preventing access to the interior without removing the enclosure from the surface to which it is attached. The lids include a recess suitable for

mounting a membrane keyboard and are also fitted with PCB mounting bosses. Bases are fitted with internal DIN rail mounting tabs in all but two sizes and standoffs for mounting PCBs or internal panels are provided in all versions. To avoid any possible corrosion problems the base inserts and self-captivating lid screws are both stainless steel, located outside the gasket; additional holes in the base, again outside the gasket seal are provided to allow the enclosure to be wall or shelf mounted. Mounting points in the base also feature moulded slots to enable 1.6mm thick PCBs to be mounted vertically into the enclosure. www.hammondmfg.com

ROLEC PROFIPLUS SUSPENSION ARMS NOW IN TWO MODELS OFFER SUPPORT FOR ENCLOSURES ROLEC’s advanced profiPlus designer suspension arms are now available in two models – 50 and 70. With an

perfect suspension arm for displays and HMI command enclosures.

alignment of the complete system in a horizontal direction through a single set screw. The two models – 50 (51.5mm wide) and 70 (70.2mm wide) – offer a choice of load and cable capacities. They have been designed to integrate with the company’s latest multiPanel and commandCASE enclosures. Each profiPplus model offers more than 40 different components including 30 couplings (hanging and

a ( t

upright in both rotary and ‘turn and tilt’ configurations); three highly stable ball-shaped joints (wall, socket, intermediate) and five support profiles (from 0.25m to 1.50m). All system parts feature integrated cable protection. The routing is suitable for HDMI, patch cables, DVI, USB and cold-device plugs. Console couplings have reduced installation depths to save space. The profiPlus50 also offers specialised

adapters for display panels including Siemens, B&R, CRE Rösler and Beckhoff. A VESA adaptor is also available. All system components are manufactured from cast aluminium (light grey RAL 7035) while the support profiles are in silver anodised aluminium.

Installation covers are moulded from Polyoxymethylene (POM), the seals are Chloroprene (CR) and the bellows are plasticised Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-P). They are all dark grey. Customising options include bespoke colours with powder coating of the main system components and a choice of anodising for the support profiles.
