Work Awards 2023 Anglia Components plc has been named as a top employer in the inaugural Sunday Times Best Places to Work Awards 2023. The technology distributor employs nearly 150 people in its sales, technical support, operations and warehouse teams. Anglia chief executive Steve Rawlins said: “We’re delighted to receive this award from the Sunday Times. Our staff are at the heart of Anglia’s success, and we’ve long believed in recognising this.

“We already offer a paid-for Christmas party, employee barbecues, champagne for special birthdays, fl owers for

births and a house move day. This year, in recognition of Anglia’s 50-year anniversary, we increased holidays to 27 days and gave our employees every Friday afternoon off. Even though these measures reduce total working hours, all staff remain on the same pay. We have always been a caring employer and this award recognises the signifi cant commitment that Anglia makes to its staff wellbeing.”

Launched for 2023, the Sunday Times Best Places to Work Awards celebrates organisations with the highest employee engagement and wellbeing levels. Winners are selected from the results of an employee engagement survey that asks questions across a range of categories including empowerment, wellbeing, information sharing and instilling pride.

achieving net zero goals. “Although the current grid may be serving its intended purpose, it is not equipped to handle the demands of a renewable energy revolution that is imperative to achieve a Net Zero future,” Mr Hall said. “Lack of fl exibility and grid infrastructure means that the ability to integrate more solar and wind power into the grid is

severely limited.”

Mr Hall continued: “There is an urgent need for improved planning to enable a more rapid integration of renewables into the energy mix and provide greater incentives for long term energy storage.

“This in turn will boost private investment and speed up the UK’s commitment to a net zero electricity system by 2035.”
