INDUSTRY NEWS MIMAKI LAUNCHES PURE CLEAR 3D PRINTING MATERIAL
Inkjet printing, cutting and 3D printing technologies manufacturer, Mimaki Europe, has announced the launch of a pure clear material for 3D printing: MH-110PCL. The material is intended for use with Mimaki’s flagship UV curable, full colour 3D printer, the 3DUJ-553. MH-110PCL is available in a 4.8L
ink bottle size, and is said to improve upon the company’s previous 3D clear ink (MH-100CL) with increased transparency, and negates any yellow tint, allowing artists, designers, architects and more to deliver work as intended and achieve more clear- cut, transparent modelling. With theMimaki 3DUJ-553 being a
full colour 3D printer that offersmore than tenmillion colours, the clear material can also be mixed with coloured inks to create translucent-colour models. The use of clear and translucent colour
models will greatly benefit industries such as medical education through the ability to visualise internal organ structures in model form, with the colour variations allowing formedical conditions to be farmore accurately
depicted.MH- 110PCL is also ideal for the expression of transparent parts required in product design and other fields such as architecturalmodels. “We realised the importance of
having truly clearmaterial and acted upon it straight away,” explainedMark Sollman, productmanager ofMimaki Europe. “We value quality just as much as the designers implementing our technologies and wish them every success with Mimaki, so we are delighted to be able to provide this new material for them.”

METCASE INVESTS IN NEW EQUIPMENT, ENABLING IT TO PRODUCE HIGHER QUALITY ENCLOSURES
Metal enclosures specialist, METCASE, has invested a six-figure sum in new hi-tech equipment to further enhance quality, accelerate production and drive innovation. Three new state-of-the-art CNC punching, forming and
millingmachines are helping the company to create the next generation of standard and customised 19” rack cases, 19” mini-racks, desktop and portable instrument enclosures. The machines are a high-performance Wiedemann
punching machine; an Amada forming machine; and a Haas milling machine with a 10-station automatic tool changer that enables faster production of enclosures with complex cut-outs. Robert Cox, marketing director said: “This significant investment in new technology ensures
we remain at the forefront in the design and manufacture of leading-edge metal enclosures for advanced electronics. Our customers can now order even higher quality metal enclosures, customised faster than ever – fully finished and ready for the installation of components.” According to the company, the new machines will enable METCASE to produce superior
customised versions of its most complex models, such as its TECHNOMET instrument enclosures and TECHNOMET 19” mini-racks.

LASER LINES EXPANDS ITS AM PORTFOLIO AT THE DMC
Those looking into additive manufacturing (AM) options in a live production environment will now be able to witness Stratasys’ H350 additive manufacturing machine and a Stratasys Origin One 3D printer at the Digital Manufacturing Centre (DMC), thanks to Laser Lines. This installation follows the placement of the Stratasys F770 and the DyeMansion post-processing workflow into the DMC last year. Mark Tyrtania, sales director at Laser Lines,
said: “This is the next step in our partnership with the DMC. The collaboration with the highly qualified engineering team there means we have an environment where we can highlight the benefits of additive manufacturing (AM) and show Stratasys machines in volume production. With
the expansion of Laser Lines solutions with the Origin One and H350, customers and prospects can see another example of an AM printer in a live, digital manufacturing environment.” Kieron Salter, CEO at the DMC, commented:
“Laser Lines and Stratasys have been integral partners in helping establish the DMC and allowing us to rapidly realise the potential of commercial additive manufacturing for advanced applications. The new Stratasys H350 perfectly complements our existing polymer production and finishing technologies and we are looking forward to exploiting the new SAF technology, leveraging our existing customer base in automotive, motorsport, aerospace and space.”
