ith innovation at its core, Design Engineering Expo 2022 is the perfect place for forward thinking design
engineering professionals to gain insight into new technologies, learn how to improve efficiencies and gain inspiration. Taking place as part of Manufacturing and
Engineering Week, a new two-day event celebrating the best of UK manufacturing and engineering excellence, Design Engineering Expo will provide a focused environment where the UK’s design engineering community can meet the suppliers delivering the latest tech to drive efficiencies and propel the future of design engineering in the UK. The event will feature exhibitors and experts
showcasing a wide range of products and services, from design services, electronics and embedded design, through to testing and measurement. There will also be a variety of exhibitions, seminars and workshop events. Design Engineering Expo is sponsored by
Wurth Elektronik eiSOS, a leading manufacturer of electronic and electromechanical components in Europe, whose wide-ranging product portfolio includes EMC Components, RF inductors and LTCC, Transformers, Power Modules and LEDs. James East, general manager UK and Ireland
at Wurth, commented: “We’re always on the lookout for new events and exhibitions to take part in and so when we heard about Design Engineering Expo, we naturally wanted to be involved. It’s an exciting new event which is going to bring some new things to the table, so we were thrilled to sign up as a lead sponsor. “What we want from this event is to have
as much face-to-face interaction with our customers as possible. As a company, we pride ourselves on the service levels we can provide to people we supply, and meeting in person to discuss new topics or challenges is one of the most important ways we do this.” Featuring case studies and a programme of
CPD accredited conferences and workshops, this event is a great opportunity for anyone looking to explore the latest innovations in the world of engineering. There will also be a special challenge built around the famous 1980s Great Egg Race television show.

Shaped by expertS
A key ingredient in the creation of Design Engineering Expo has been the involvement of an Advisory Council of UK experts, bringing together experience from across industry, trade associations, professional bodies, government and academia to help shape a programme of events. Selected from experts in their field, the Advisory Council meet regularly, chaired by Stephen Phipson CBE, CEO of Make UK. Libby Meyrick, chief executive officer of the
Institution of Design Engineers, a member of the Advisory Council said: “Design doesn’t stop – it’s dynamic, forthright and exciting, and the IED is supporting the launch of the Design Engineering Expo to help showcase all of these elements and the outstanding work of the design community now and in the future.” As part of Nineteen Group’s support for
diversity and promoting women in engineering, half of the Advisory board is made up of prominent women in their respective fields. Manufacturing & Engineering Week is also
supported by many other leading organisations, including: the Women’s Engineering Society – an organisation that promotes women’s education in engineering; the Institute of Export and International Trade – the professional body for importers and exporters; Napier – a B2B technology PR and marketing agency; the Institution of Mechanical Engineers; the Manufacturing Technology Centre – set up to bridge the gap between academia and industry; the Advanced Propulsion Centre – facilitates funding for low-carbon emission powertrains; High Value Manufacturing Catapult – helps new concepts become commercial; Innovate UK – a public body that promotes innovation; Made Smarter UK – helps grow manufacturing through digital technologies; and the UK government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
