SAFETY LIGHT GRIDS HAVE OPTION THAT ENABLES THE SAFETY FUNCTION TO BE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

ifm electronic’s latest OY510 series of safety light grids have an integrated T-muting option for use in applications where the safety function must be temporarily suspended. This is typically to allow workpieces or other items to move into and out of the protected area. According to the company, the integrated muting functionality saves money and simplifies installation of the light grid, as no external junction box or muting relay is needed. Muting arms for use with

these are available with two through-beam sensors or two multi-beam light barriers for crossbeam muting, and with four parallel retro-reflective sensors or four parallel multi-beam light barriers for sequential muting. All versions fit directly onto the light barrier structure and incorporate pre-mounted sensors for fast and easy set up. The light grids also feature a status

light that gives a clear visual indication when the muting function is in operation. There are three models in the OY510 range covering different protection heights: 510mm for the OY511S; 810mm for the OY512S; and 910mm for the OY513S. The light grids can be set to cover protected area widths from 0-4m or from 3-12m. These meet Type 4 safety

requirements in line with IEC 61496, SILCL3 in line with IEC 62016, Category 4, PLe in line with EN ISO 13894 and SIL3 in line with IEC 61508. Suitable for use even in

challenging environments, the

OY510 light grids have an operating temperature range of -30 to +55˚C and an ingress protection rating of IP65/IP67, protection class III.

NEW GENERATION OF RESOLVER CAN BE USED IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

A new generation of resolvers that can help improve angular position accuracy in a wide range of industrial servo motors have been introduced by TE Connectivity (TE). The compact T7X product series

is available in most commonly- used hollow shaft diameters, combining high precision with reliability. Angular accuracy ranges from typical ±08 or ±10 arcmin to high precision ±04 arcmin products. These are available from speed one to speed four, covering 4kHz to 10 kHz applications. Different electrical versions are

available to support a vast majority of existing servo drives and servo drive settings. Suitable for use in extreme

environmental conditions, these can be used in environments with temperatures ranging from -55˚C to 150˚C and angular speed up to 20,000rpm. Applications range from factory

equipment applications to robotics, tooling machines and textile weaving machines.

BIOPRINTER: THE ULTIMATE BIO RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

FELIXprinters has launched the BIOprinter, which it explains is designed to be the ultimate bio research instrument. According to the company, the global 3D

bioprinting market – currently valued at $965 million – is expected to grow at a CAGR of nearly 20% up to the mid 2020s, driven by increased healthcare demands, but also to overcome the supply bottlenecks and ethical issues associated with organ donation and tissue repair. Bioprinting also caters for the increased demand for customised patient-specific healthcare solutions, a trend that is only likely to accelerate moving forward. The BIOprinter has been developed on

the chassis of the established FELIXprinters product line and has features that are

specifically designed for medical, scientific and research applications. These include syringe cooling, print bed cooling and heating, a dual head system, easy syringe positioning and automatic bed levelling. The printer features automatic bed levelling

through the use of probing systems which results in a perfect first layer, which means a quality end result, the company claims. The BIOprinter also retracts with a highly precise motor for better dosage of materials and more accurate material flow versus alternative air pressure systems. In addition, the print heads are easy to sterilise, which eliminates the likelihood of contamination. The FELIX BIO is appropriate for all types of bio-printing research, and is equipped with

The flat rod systems enable two or

three-point closure – or even four or five-point and more – by virtue of multiple brackets at intermediate points along each rod. This provides pop-out handle

operation with 1333 keyed lock cylinder for RH or LH mounting and incorporating an optional integral earthing clip.

LOW PROFILE IP65

SWINGHANDLE INTRODUCED

New from FDB Panel Fittings is the DIRAK 3-149 swinghandle, a low-profile IP65 locking handle which facilitates fitment of flat rod multi-point closure systems. The swinghandle/flat rod approach is said to especially suit larger door cabinets which need the additional rigidity which they can offer to the door structure in its closed condition, aiding sealing and security.
