BOILER GUIDE

Introducing the Greenstar 2000 – The relaunched combi boiler from Worcester Bosch, at an affordable price

Martyn Bridges, Director of Technical Communicaon and Product Management at Worcester Bosch outlines the key features of the leading boiler manufacturer’s new product range – the Greenstar 2000 – and the road it took to get there

Suitable for apartments, plus small and medium sized homes with one bathroom, the Greenstar 2000 combines all the best elements of the Worcester 2000 while including more technical upgrades. In addition, we’ve even reduced the price!

W

It is our policy to listen to installers to ensure we are developing the best products and services for the market. Last year, a clear message had been the increasing need for a price competitive Worcester Bosch boiler, which gives installers more flexibility when it comes to offering the right solution for their customer.

Taking this feedback on board we developed the Worcester 2000, a natural gas-fired combi boiler, specifically designed to be accessible for all. The cost-conscious alternative intended to allow installers the option to offer customers a reliable Worcester Bosch boiler at a competitive price-point.

The product was well-received by installers and homeowners alike, however we didn’t want to stop there. Over the past 12 months we have asked installers for their honest opinions and looked at how we could develop the product even further.

e are excited to have launched the Greenstar 2000 boiler, replacing the Worcester 2000 launched last year with much success.

It was great to hear that installers felt it was a high-quality boiler at a great affordable price. However, they had some valuable suggestions to how we could improve the Worcester 2000. So, we took all of this feedback on board and ensured we kept the things installers loved – and made enhancements where required.

Introducing the Greenstar 2000

The main improvements included adding full 230v controls compatibility as well as an easier PRV push-fit connection. We’ve also added copper tails, for CH flow and return, to ensure a quicker installation. Finally, the mains cable is also now replaceable.

We also included many of the much-loved features and installer benefits from the previous Worcester 2000, including:

• Ability to condense in hot water mode

• Quick to install with the option to pipe vertically to the boiler

• Easy access with removable side panels

• Simple to specify with maximum flue lengths of 9m horizontally and 12m vertically (60/100)

• C6 heat exchanger – an evolution of the WB3 heat exchanged which features in our most popular combi boiler, the Greenstar i

• The ability to modulate down to as little as 4.8kW

• 35-degree hot water temperature rise (10 & 12l/min)

We have already received positive feedback from installers who have tried the Greenstar 2000, with some saying it is a stylish, affordable quiet boiler that’s also light and spacious inside. We are confident that with these new improvements, the Greenstar 2000 will be as well-received as its predecessor and continue our intention as a company to give more flexibility to installers.

We strive to offer every home greater choice and the opportunity to have a high-quality heating system, along with all the aftercare support that is synonymous with the Worcester Bosch brand.

Taking control

The Greenstar 2000 is also compatible with the Bosch EasyControl, the smart connected heating and hot water thermostat, which gives users complete control.

The Bosch EasyControl app allows users to easily understand their gas consumption for heating and hot water, allowing current gas prices to be added to provide accurate readings. It also incorporates home sensing technology to maximise comfort and efficiency, all while minimising costs, by for example, automatically turning the heating down when the homeowner isn’t in.

When used with Bosch Smart TRVs (radiator valve controls), the EasyControl can be used for monitoring room temperature with integrated sensors that will keep it at a desired level and reduce temperatures for unused rooms as well. Finally, the Bosch EasyControl can be operated using a smart device, from anywhere in the world, as long as it is connected to the internet. Meaning homeowners can switch on their Greenstar 2000 to return to a warm and comfy home.

Time to accessorise

As with many of our boiler ranges, there are a number of accessories available that can benefit the system, both in terms of guarantee length and maintenance.

For example, the Greenstar 2000 comes with a 5- year guarantee as standard and a 6-year guarantee when installed with any Greenstar System Filter.

Our range includes a brass system filter, a mini and a regular system filter, as well as a 28mm version. All our system filters extend the guarantee across our entire gas and oil product range.

Care for the system

There are also the Greenstar Heating System Care Packs allowing installer to offer a cost-effective system solution, while complying with both Boiler Plus and BS7593. Each care pack contains a Greenstar Mini System Filter, which unlocks our extended guarantees, a Worcester Bosch inhibitor and cleaner, as well as a control.

We have three packs which are suitable for the Greenstar 2000:

• Wireless Bosch EasyControl (white) RF Care Pack • Wireless Bosch EasyControl (black) RF Care Pack • Greenstar Comfort+ II RF Care Pack
