New m850 synchronous servo motors L
enze is extending its portfolio with the new m850 synchronous servo
motors designed for machines that need medium dynamics with medium-to-high powers. The m850 series is very compact and easy to control, and is characterised by its optimal smooth running properties. This means that the synchronous servo motors are especially suitable for positioning tasks, for example in handling systems, in packaging systems and in robotics. The m850 motors are easy to control thanks to a design that sets a favourable ratio of torque to inertial mass. The
optimal smooth running properties of the motors guarantee exact working results, as a result of which the m850 series is suitable for those applications where a high degree of smooth and quiet operation is required. The motors have been designed to perform simple positioning tasks requiring a medium level of dynamic response. The requirements of higher level
applications where responsiveness and precision is required are met by Lenze’s tried-and-tested MCS motors.

smooth and easy to clean surfaces with IP65 protection. This suits the compact motors for use in the food industry. The synchronous motors are equipped with a robust resolver feedback system as standard but, as an option, can also be supplied with a multi-turn sin-cos encoder for higher precision. Cables with SpeedTec connectors together with rotatable plugs on the motors enable speedy installation and replacement in the event of service. The new motor series supplements the Lenze synchronous servo motor portfolio in the power range 2.0 to 9.2 kW and with rated torques from 4.8 to 35 Nm. Three matching ranges of Lenze servo inverters with varying functionality, the i700, 9400 and 8400 TopLine, combine to create economic, efficient and powerful drive solutions.

New water cooled motor
WEG, one of the leading global manufacturers of motor and drive technology, has recently launched the new K1W series of water-cooled motors. The newly developed K1W motors are available up to energy efficiency class IE3 with rated power up to 700 kW and compact dimensions. They are suitable for a broad spectrum of applications, including mixers, extruders, injection moulding machines, printing presses, paper machines and wire drawing machines. The new series of motors was developed by the company’s German subsidiary, Antriebstechnik KATT Hessen, commonly known as AKH. “The K1W series is a completely new line of water-cooled motors,
which meet the needs of a large number of applications thanks to numerous options,” says Uwe Guthardt, managing director of AKH. “Among other things, they are a good choice when a lot of power is needed in a small space and the lowest possible noise level is desired. The K1W series is ideal in situations where an external fan is not possible due to a high dust burden in the air or the motor heat cannot be dissipated directly to the ambient, for example in an operating environment that is already at an elevated temperature.” The new series of motors is built to the specifications of vibration
level A, protection class IP55 and insulation class F as standard. The shaft height of the available motors is between 200 and 355mm. The motor casing and bearing shells of the standard version are made from steel. The electrical options include optimisation for variable speed drive operation as well as special voltages and frequencies. The mechanical options of the K1W motors include water- cooled shafts, electrically isolated bearings, automatic lubrication, and foot or flange mounting.

New AC Drive for the medium and heavy-duty industries
Bonfiglioli, one of the leaders in the manufacturing of gearboxes, gearmotors and drive systems, has introduced the drive controller Active Cube 7 from the proven inverter series Active Cube, with an improved power range of 160 or 200 kW with water cooling. The drives are available for 400 Volt supply voltage. The compact ACU 7 converters in the 160 kW version have a high-power density of 2 kW/dm³. The 200 kW water-cooled version of the new ACU 7 drives achieves the extra ordinary power-density value of 2.5 kW/dm3. The improved ACU 7 drives are particularly suitable to medium and heavy-duty industries such as material handling, mining, sugar, water and waste water, road construction, and plastics. Besides the known features, Bonfiglioli’s new ACU 7 inverter solutions offer further options such as control features with 32 PLC function blocks and 16 variables, as well as several feedback sensors. On top of this, there is a wide range of digital and analogue outputs and inputs inclusive of PTC, PT100 or KTY temperature sensors. The standard communication protocol portfolio like Profinet, Ethernet IP, EtherCAT, VABus/TCP and CANopen are also available in the ACU 7 inverters. The safety function ‘Safe Torque Off’ comes along as an integrated and standard feature too. For many applications, the new and more effective ACU 7 drives represent a benchmark in the high-power range, characterised by flexibility, open communication and the smallest required assembly space.
