PCB Piezotronics, Inc. Announces CALROUTE Option for Portable Calibrators
force, torque, load, and strain sensors has announced CALROUTE. This new firmware upgrade for the Portable Vibration Calibrator delivers semi-automatic generation of test points to simplify calibration routines. CALROUTE enables repetitive calibration routines to be generated.

hen LGC Automation in France decided to develop its weighing and packaging machines, fitting a weight sensor which incorporated PW20i load cells from HBM – a market leader in the field of test and measurement – was the obvious answer. Founded in 2012, LGC Automation has developed a
range of weighing and packaging machines, which are Semi-automatic, economical and are designed to target the needs of small companies in the food and agriculture industry. All standard models offered by LGC Automation feature
one or two product feed hoppers, with the products conveyed by means of vibrating rails or conveyor belts and a mechanism for filling sachets directly or via a bucket. This makes it possible to put a wide range of food products into sachets, including food products such as biscuits, dried fruits, coffee, berries and confectionary products etc, and small products sold by weight.

Test routines are set up on a laptop or desktop computer before being transferred to the Portable Vibration Calibrator via a USB memory stick, allowing multiple sensor models to be calibrated without having to reload data. On the Model 9110D Portable Vibration Calibrator, an indication of pass or fail status is clearly displayed on the calibrator’s screen during testing. Test results are recorded on a USB memory stick for later transfer to a computer where ISO 17025 compliant calibration certificates can be printed.

Castell Safety appoints Neil Webster as new managing director
N
ew Castell managing director Neil Webster wants the company to capitalise on its standing in the industrial safety sector by injecting a sense of
urgency into how it operates. “Castell has huge credibility as a brand,” said Neil. “It’s time we took that authority and upped the pace in everything we do: how we communicate with customers, how we develop new products and how we increase our global footprint.” “We’ve got a significant investment plan for the business which will fuel our
growth, whether that’s systems-led or directed into NPD. We want to maintain and increase our reputation as the go-to partner for our customers, both for knowledge and solutions.”
Neil joins Castell from TALIS Group, a manufacturer of valves for the water industry. He brings extensive
experience of the automation, process control, hazardous area and lighting industries. Castell Safety International Ltd

PROFI-enabled interlock gate switch from Fortress B
www.castell.com
CB Piezotronics, Inc.(“PCB®”), a designer, manufacturer, and global supplier of accelerometers, microphones, calibration systems, and
rick, block and tile manufacturing plants are notorious for their dusty, arduous environments and high-vibration machinery. This plays havoc with
traditional safety interlocks, routinely causing tripping faults. To overcome this problem, Fortress Interlocks has developed its PROFI-enabled
amGardpro interlock gate switch with built-in machine control technology, built to withstand the most strenuous conditions. With a locking force of 10,000N, the PROFI-enabled switch eliminates virtually all nuisance tripping faults, making amGardpro the most robust networked safety interlock on the market. PROFINET is the world’s most advanced industrial Ethernet system for
transporting data in real time between control devices (such as PLCs) and field devices (such as safety gate switches). Using PROFI-enabled amGardpro gate switches allowed a customer of Fortress which manufactures roof tiles to reduce the wiring for each interlock unit, significantly reducing design, engineering, commissioning and maintenance costs and virtually eliminating tripping faults.

Hydra-Cell Metering Pumps Hold all the Aces T
here are only two common pump types that purport to guarantee a fixed delivery volume over time and against varying back pressures…
reciprocating diaphragm pumps and plunger pumps. Traditional diaphragm pumps guarantee the volume but deliver it with high pulsation while plunger pumps offer a smoother flow but suffer seal wear that causes leaks and impairs volumetric accuracy over time. Unique Hydra-Cell pumps offer the benefits of each type without the
drawbacks. Having multiple diaphragms in a single pump head guarantees the volumetric accuracy of a conventional metering pump but with very low pulsation, removing the need for pulsation dampeners in many instances. Hydra-Cell pumps are also more economical than traditional diaphragm
metering pumps, in terms of acquisition, spare parts and energy costs. At a given flow and pressure, a traditional diaphragm pump with a 15kW motor can usually be replaced with a Hydra-Cell® metering pump with a 5kW motor.

AxFlow introduces new TS twin-screw pump
A
xFlow has announced the introduction of the new Waukesha Universal TS ‘twin-screw’ rotary positive
displacement pump to its portfolio. This Universal TS pump exploits the benefits of
Waukesha Alloy 88 non-galling material twin screws to pump various media containing large particulates, thereby lowering damage to the pump and reducing maintenance. Users also benefit from the pump’s high suction capability and wide range of operating speeds which means that only one pump is required to transfer product and undertake CIP. This removes the number of pumps, valves and control instrumentation, thus contributing to reduced costs and simpler, more compact systems. As a result of the twin screws’ rotating geometry, a
pulse-free flow is created making the pump suitable for many applications such as feeding homogenisers. Significantly, the meshing screws have identical rear and front profiles giving bi-directional flows which enable easy media transfer between vessels without alteration to the pump set-up.
