Molesey, Surrey, which she launched in 2011, aged 21. She joined soon after graduating university and her current business turnover is exceeding all expectations.
“Before discovering Pyjama Drama, I completed a BA degree in drama at Exeter University and worked for a children’s outdoor activity company.
I wanted to put my degree to use and start up my own after-school drama business. Whilst researching Pyjama Drama, I really connected with the core principles of the company, and thought it would be a great way for myself, as a young person, to get into business. When I started I could not drive, so had to use my own two feet and public transport to get myself to classes all over a territory and events where I was advertising, but this didn't stop me from getting the business up and running!
I faced some tricky situations in my first two years: being repeatedly ill (something that is inevitable when working with small children!), being let down by session leaders, dealing with complaints, and – above all – juggling work and life outside of work, trying to achieve a healthy balance!”
