PIP WILKINS Chief Executive, BFA
A buzzing end-of-year! I
t’s been a busy few months at The Association with a number of important events taking place starting with our Technology and Systems seminar in Wrexham,
where BFA members attended sessions addressing fast-moving advances in technology with topics covering data-driven decision making and digitalisation's impact on franchisee performance. From there the team moved on to the
incredibly successful EWIB (Empowering Women in Business), attended by nearly 200 women, which Farrah Rose, Director of the Franchising Centre and considered by many to be one of the most experienced women in franchising, described as “one of the most important days of my franchising career”. Following a successful National
Franchise Exhibition at Birmingham NEC in October (see page XX for review), November saw the annual conference where over 358 delegates, representing 150 BFA members, came together to hear from expert speakers on a range of topics, from legal and finances to renewals,
resales, coaching, recruitment and company cultures, all under the theme of ‘Running Your Own Race’. We also hosted the results of the Franchisee Satisfaction Benchmark survey and revealed the winners of the 2023 WorkBuzz Awards. One of the most popular talks was
from successful BFA members who told us about times when things were going seriously wrong … and how they put them right. Their searing honesty went down extremely well and one of the speakers Trevor Brocklebank – former owner of Home Instead and now founder of seated sports franchise Rise – put it perfectly when he said: “You don’t join the BFA in the hope of getting the odd enquiry from their website; you join for the connections you can make, the conversations you can have, the people you can meet, the stories you will hear and the questions you can ask.” Well said Trevor! The BFA HSBC British Franchise Awards
was a spectacular evening! We know how much work goes into every entry and we are truly grateful to everyone who gets involved – thank you and congratulations to the following, very worthy winners...
“The awards was a spectacular evening… congra ts to the wort hy winners!”
