aul Harvey-Matthews was a regional support manager (RSM) for a number of businesses in the north of England, including for Caremark in 2018.
With Caremark Harrogate up for sale, Paul felt it was a fantastic opportunity not to be missed, but also reassured by the level of knowledge and assistance he would be offered by his fellow professionals in the fi eld-based team, as well as from the franchise support centre.
What drew you to Caremark, Paul? It was an easy decision for me really because I was impressed by Caremark from the word go. The culture, values, vision and mission statement all resonated strongly with me, plus the success of their network … I never even considered another care provider.
What prompted your investment in Caremark Harrogate? As an RSM for Caremark I supported Caremark Harrogate already [the territory was up for sale] … I stood back from the situation and thought, I could do this. I could take this business and turn it around. I had done it previously in another job role and loved it, so I thought, why not go for it? I was excited by the challenge and knew I would love benefi ting both the customers and the staff.
How’s it going so far? Amazing! It’s reassuring to know that I don’t have to know – or be good – at everything, because I can pull on their resources. The level of support available to the network is outstanding. Business so far has been great! I try to create a work

environment that fosters joy so my team will take this positivity out into the community and share it with their customers and spread it amongst their family when they go home. Being able to spill happiness into another’s life is how

Any advice for others that might be considering a care franchise During my role as an RSM I got to meet many different care assistants in my region. What I noticed was that the most successful businesses with the best teams were also the businesses with the happiest, most productive staff. Why? Because each person in that business felt they were valued, respected, and had an important role to play.
