Runners and businesses come together to make charity run a success
A team of more than 100 runners is getting ready to tackle the Milton Keynes Festival of Running half-marathon in aid of children’s bereavement charity Harry’s Rainbow. The Harry’s Rainbow team, which will include the
charity’s CEO founder Odette Mould MBE and the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr Mick Legg, is aiming to raise enough money to fund support for 15 bereaved children. Support from two local businesses, T e Good Gym MK
and Lynx Networks, means that more of the money raised can be used to help children who need it most. Odette Mould said: “Our target was to get together a
team of at least 100 runners and we’ve managed that with a few weeks to go. T at, combined with the help we’ve had from T e Good Gym MK and Lynx Networks, is going to help us provide much-needed support for children in the Milton Keynes area who have lost a loved one.” Harry’s Rainbow supports children and young people
in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas who have lost a parent or sibling. It was founded in 2011 by Odette and her family in memory of her son, Harry, who died when he was fi ve. Harry was a twin and, aware of the eff ect losing her twin brother had on her daughter, Jessica, Odette recognised the need for support for children in the same position. Today, Harry’s Rainbow provides information and
guidance through its website and social media sites, as well as organising support groups, activities and trips, as well as individual, tailored support where it is needed.
“We are so grateful to all those who are going to be
running in aid of Harry’s Rainbow and raising vital funds,” added Odette. “And we’re also incredibly grateful to the businesses who have partnered with us to ensure as much money as possible gets to where it is needed most. “T eir support has helped us cover some of our costs,
the running T-shirts etc, and it makes all the diff erence to the fi nal total, so it’s a massive thank you to them.” T e Milton Keynes Festival of Running will take place on
March 17 and includes 5K, 10K, half-marathon and 20-mile routes, all starting from Xscape in the centre of the city.
