CARE FOR THE CAREGIVER: HOW CHAPLAIN SERVICES IMPACT EMPLOYEE RETENTION
Professional caregivers are an invaluable part of the senior living industry. Caregivers assist residents, families, team members, and each other every single day. In the past few years, despite working in challenging situations with an unknown end to the pandemic, caregivers went the extra mile to provide their residents with a high quality of care.

Compassion fatigue and burnout are genuine issues in the healthcare industry. The goal is to connect chaplains with the team members to build trust with caregivers. The chaplains assigned to senior care communities can come alongside, most often in-person but also virtually, to build a relationship with these caregiving professionals, get to know them, and get to know their families. This unique relationship between a chaplain and a team member opens up a connection so that a caregiver has someone who they can trust with the most important things in their lives and their work.
