Clitheroe is to host aseries of “Memory Festivals" offering advice to people whoare liv ing with dementia.
Organised by Lancashire County Council there will be advice aboutlocalservicesfor sufferers of the illness, their families, carers and friends. The Memory Festivals will

Amodelofa Ribble Valley street in Victorian times is the highlight of an exhibition being held at Whalley Old Grammar School. The local history exhibition, which will run until Sunday, is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm and on Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm. Tomorrow the centre will also open from 6-30 to 8-30 pm. The highlight of the exhibition this year is the model of King Street in Victorian times created by the secretary of Whalley Local History Group Jean Lord. There is an entry fee of £1, no charge for children, and re- . freshments will be available. Further information leaflets are available at the centre.
Car hooters boost hospice Initiative to keep riders and drivers safe on the Valley’s roads
Riders fromBolton-by-Bowland accompanied mounted po lice on a ride out to raise awareness of horses on the Ribble Valley’s roads. The fourth ride out to be staged locally, the initiative raises awareness amongst the drivers of all types of vehicles of the possibility of meeting horses and riders on the Ribble Val
ley’s roads and how to drive safely near them. As well as reporting bad and dangerous driving, riders are encouraged to report courteous and safe driving they experi ence from local delivery drivers to PCSO Di Bioletti at Clithe roe Police Station. She then writes to their company to thank them for their employee’s considerate behaviour.
Keen car hooters Andi Trickett and his wife Nicola raised £62 for Pendleside Hospice. They raised the cash at Clitheroe Car Boot sale ear lier in the month. Andi said: “We had a fan tastic day and made a nice amount. “Unfortunately it rained a little bit but that didn’t stop us as we were do ing this in memory of my mum.” Sammi Bracewell, fund raiser for Pendleside Hos pice, said: “Many thanks to Andi and Nicola for their
support, they have been loyal supporters of the hospice for many years and we really appreciate all the fundraising they do for us.”
