Business park project gets the green light
Plans for an industrial estate in Clitheroe have been given the go ahead - despite objec tions from local residents and a councillor. The scheme to build 21
unitsattheformergolfdriving range in Up Brooks, Lincoln Way, was given conditional approval at a meeting of the Ribble Valley Council’s plan ning committeelastThursday. The plan was submitted
by Clitheroe based business James Alpe, one of the North West’s leading accident re pair centres and vehicle con version specialits. It will be the first industrial unit built in the town for 15 years and
would offer a home to new businesses and a chance to re- locateforexisting companies. Residents in the area had
protested against the scheme on the grounds that the new units would overdevelop the site. They also expressed con cerns about the height of a fence that would be erected around the development and have an impact on their view. Coun. Stephen Atkinson,
who voted against the scheme said: “I am in favour of increas ing business in the town but this to me is over-develop ment of this site and I am not convinced it wll attract new businesses.! also believe there
will not be enough car parking

A Ribble Valley hotel and spa has won aprestigious national award.
Stanley House Hotel and Spa in Mellor was awarded the “above and beyond” accolade in the 2015 Good Spa Guide Awards. An expert guide to the UK’s
finest spas and treatments, Stanley House was awarded the
