As part ofWorld Book Day pu­ pils from Bolton-by-Bowland CE Primary School dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character. They included characters


from “Charlie and the Choc­ olate Factory”, “Fantastic Mr


■ Fox”, “Matilda”, “The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me” to name but a few. World Book Day is an an­ nual event to celebrate books


and reading. The children held a World BookDay assem­ bly and read extracts from their favourite books. Head teacher’Mrs Stans-


field said: “This is a popular event at Bolton-by-Bowland. The children love to share their reading experiences with the rest of the school. We are especially proud of all the hard work parents have put into helping their children


make the costumes. The chil­ dren receive a fortnightly vis- itfromthelibraryvanseryice and have visitedClitheroe Li- braryjust this week. All chil­ dren have reading packets and storybook bags and par­ ents help by listening to their children read as part of home­ work. Children from Thorneyholme RC Primary school, Dunsop Bridge also brought in their favourite books and the day began with a quiz in the school hall. Teachers read out parts of their favourite books from their childhood. Other activities on the day


included bookmark and pop­ up book making. At lunch time, the school chef dressed up as Jamie Oliver and at break times, many witches and wizards were spotted fly­ ing around the playground on broomsticks................... - .
